The School of Education is home to both the Professional Education degrees and service-oriented professional programs in Psychology and Social Work. The School blends theoretical, professional, and practical concepts for expertise in education and service.

The School of Education offers a Bachelor of Science in Birth to Kindergarten Education, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, and Psychology, as well as a Bachelor of Social Work. In addition, the School offers the professional education component for undergraduate teacher licensure in Biology, English, Mathematics, Music, Health and Physical Education, Social Studies, and Spanish. The School also offers a Master of School Administration, Master of Arts in community counseling, Master of Education (M.Ed.) in school counseling, and Master of Education.

In the School of Education, technology and teaching go hand in hand. Students create classroom materials using desktop publishing platforms, Google Docs, PowerPoint, Prezi, Wiki-Web Development, Animation Creation, Movie Making for flipping classrooms, and interactive electronic whiteboards. The School of Education has two computer labs consisting of 48 dual-boot Windows/Macintosh systems and 20 iPads that provide students the opportunity to integrate technology into their training as teachers. Each classroom is equipped with a SMARTBoard™ and Document Camera for use by instructors and students. The interactive electronic whiteboards are perfect for demonstrations, interactivity, accommodating different learning styles, fostering critical thinking, and distance learning.

Campbell University School of Education

Campbell University offers a Master of Education degree program in Health and Physical Education that leads to licensure at the advanced level. Designed for experienced practicing educators aspiring to become master teachers, the program assists candidates in relating theory and research to current professional practices, trends and issues. Core classes address areas such as theoretical foundations, research, technology, law and ethics, curriculum and human diversity. Individualized projects and assignments allow graduates to integrate information and knowledge from varied experiences and courses and apply the results in professional settings. The M.Ed. in Health and Physical Education extends the INTASC standards and NCDPI competencies and builds on the standards of the national specialty area associations including the standards of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. The degree requires successful completion of 34 semester hours and builds upon the instructional expertise and leadership qualities and skills of an experienced licensed teacher.

M.Ed in Health and Physical Education

This Master’s Program in Gifted was developed as a “collaborative” model between the university and the local school districts of teachers participating within this MEd/add-on licensure program. This program is uniquely designed to prepare educators with the knowledge and skills required to modify the curricula content, process, products, and learning environment for students who are academically or intellectually gifted learners. Further, the program is intended to promote an understanding of the characteristics, issues, identification of, and services for gifted learners. Critical and creative thinking skill strategies and models for affective development are explored.

M.Ed. In Academically/Intellectually Gifted Education

The Master of School Administration program emphasizes leadership and problem-solving ability through the educator’s exposure to real-world experiences. An electronic portfolio creates opportunities to do the work of school administrators and establishes a “tool kit” of ideas and materials which will lead to successful leadership in schools.
