M.A. Economics (Specialization in International Business) Target groups The offer is addressed to graduate first degree studies in the areas of education, "Economics" and "Management", "Finance and Accounting", "International Economic Relations" interested in gaining or deepening of knowledge and skills in the field of international business. Studies on the specialization graduates may also take an area of studies "Tourism" wanting to get a qualification in the field of international business. In addition, expansion of expertise may be interested in people working in companies and institutions operating in international markets due to the need for constant verification of theoretical and practical knowledge in this field. The mission and goals of education Ongoing processes of globalization and regionalization determine the changes in the conditions of competition on international markets. These processes cause the constant evolution of the market environment. In order to adapt to ongoing changes skillfully company must make decisions relating to strategy in foreign markets. This necessitates the employment of highly qualified staff having knowledge and practical skills relating to the area of foreign trade economics, law, international finance, international banking, international transportation and logistics. The purpose of education, specializing in "International Business" is designed to prepare graduates to apply knowledge in various aspects of economic performance of enterprises in international markets and gain the ability to use analytical methods to make strategic decisions of companies in global markets. The Kuyavian – Pomeranian region is an area in which rapidly developing contacts with foreign companies. Location in the Transport Corridor VI, the implementation of European projects and Bothnian SoNorA Logistic Corridor, which aims to integrate transport systems in Scandinavia economic centers of Central and South America and the region to improve transport accessibility - the construction of the A-1, the way the Experts S-5 gives a very good perspective the development of business relations companies in the region with foreign partners. This increases the demand for specialists in the field of international business, which reported many companies, both Polish and foreign government institutions. M.A. Mechatronics Mechatronics – a synergistic combination of precision engineering, electronic control and mechanical systems Mechatronics is a relatively new discipline of the applied science, created as a result of deep merging of different fields of technology, such as electronics, mechanics, automation and robotics. Today, in our everyday life, in industry and science we use equipment of very complex structure using state-of-the-art mechanical engineering solutions as well as sophisticated control systems managed by modern electronic hardware and extended software. The aim of MSc studies on mechatronics is to prepare students for independent creative work in scope of analysis and design of mechanical equipment, mechanical design, design rules of electronic systems and industrial automatic control systems. The range of compulsory, optional lectures and laboratory classes was selected to broaden the knowledge of the BSc graduates by elements necessary to understand more complex subjects discussed during MSc studies. Significant advantages of the mechatronics degree programme at University of Economy are modern lab facilities worth mentioning here are the laboratories of microprocessor systems, control systems and renewable energy sources. The gem among the labs is the robotics laboratory, equipped both with professional robots as well as with robot sets for individual assembly and programming by students. We also have the CAD/CAM systems laboratory and multimedia laboratory equipped with Apple computers. Characteristics of the graduate A graduate of this field of study acquires knowledge on mechatronics in a broad sense. This knowledge, in particular, covers mechanics, mechanical engineering and machine operation, electronics, informatics, automatics and robotics. The syllabus of the studies includes subjects the purpose of which is to properly organize and consolidate theoretical knowledge in scope of mathematics, physics, management and law. The objective is to provide students with general knowledge so they understand the social constraints of engineering. A graduate of the MSc course in the field of mechatronics is also familiar with trends, latest technological and engineering achievements as well as technology transfer in the field of mechatronics. In the course of studies, students acquire skills allowing them to solve typical professional problems as well as problems that require non-standard solutions. They also learn how to acquire information from professional literature, databases and other sources as well as how to properly interpret, integrate and assess its quality and usefulness. Teaching staff The teaching staff of the “mechatronics” course include scientists with large scientific, teaching and organisational experience who gained recognition both in Poland and abroad. The staff consists of authors of numerous Polish and international publications, members of scientific associations, highly regarded experts and consultants of numerous scientific disciplines. The key part of staff includes practitioners who are employed in or cooperate with leading companies of the region. The distinguishing feature of the human resources policy of University of Economy in Bydgoszcz, compared to other universities is the fact that we employ experts who teach individual specialized subjects. Education process The studies last 4 semesters. The education process includes lectures, laboratory classes, seminars as well as design classes with high emphasize put on the student"s independent work. Students are obliged to prepare their diploma thesis independently. Upon graduation from the University, students get diplomas of Masters of Science in mechatronics . Labour market Complexity of CAD/CAM systems requires the engineer to acquire high engineering competence and appropriate knowledge as well as computer skills. This results in high, unsatisfied demand for specialists in that field. One can also observe fast development of labour market sector and demand for specialists in the field of power supply systems based on renewable energy sources. Highly developed tooling industry companies declare demand for engineers familiar with mechanical engineering and machine operation as well as plastic processing. Graduates of MSc studies can work as design engineers, quality control laboratories staff as well as in companies providing expert opinions. The University of Economy is a non-state institution of higher education. Its foundation was preceded by a ten-year experience gained from providing post-secondary education aimed at qualifying staff for free market economy, in particular for tourism sector as well as for the use of modern IT technologies in company management. The University is based in Bydgoszcz upon Brda river, the 8th-largest city in Poland. Bydgoszcz has something for everyone, including: a major cultural center in the country, especially for music; remarkable performances on the scenes of the Opera "Nova" and the Polish Theatre, superb concerts in the Pomeranian Philharmonic; easy access to beautiful countryside, such as the Myślęcinek park, the Tuchola Forest, the Bydgoska Puszcza Forest University campus The University of Economy in Bydgoszcz has its own modern campus located on the banks of the Brda River. In the area of 3.2 ha there are educational and scientific facilities. The total area of the complex is more than 8,5 hectares. Institute of Informatics and Mechatronics The Institute of Informatics and Mechatronics (IIiM) of the University of Economy (WSG) was established on 1st October 2004. In the years 2004-2010 it was called The Institute of Applied Informatics. Cooperation with industry on the basis of direct contacts between employees of the Department with technologically advanced enterprises in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship is the basis for practical education for students. This allows students to create very good theses in particular in the field of mechatronics. The University has already signed several partnership agreements with major companies on the Polish market representing manufacturers such as Siemens, and among others - GM System. Close cooperation with those companies has already led to some very interesting student projects like 3D robot model using SolidEdge software. An additional aspect of the close cooperation with industry is the ability to monitor the effects of education on the basis of employers" opinions. The Institute of Informatics and Mechatronics has a number of international agreements on cooperation. Thanks to the Erasmus programme students not only have the ability to study abroad but also they can do their internship within three months. In academic year 2010/2011 the department of computer science students did their internship in Technische Universität Darmstadt in Germany. Many researches are conducted among which the most important for the employees of the department are: tribology research, studies on the use of artificial neural networks, applied research in the field of mobile applications and embedded systems, studies of the properties of metals based on ultrasound with the use of modern methods of analysis and digital signal processing, power electronics and renewable energy sources.
