Introduction

The University of Mexico City (UCM) was created on April 26, 2001, by the Government of the Federal District. On December 16, 2004, the UCM obtained autonomy through the publication of the Law of the Autonomous University of Mexico City, approved by the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District (ALDF). Its mission and vision, its objectives, its programs and study plans, its strategies and activities are focused, in accordance with its Law, primarily on the training of citizens with the ability to critically analyze reality, with a multidimensional understanding of social problems and with sufficient scientific and humanistic knowledge and tools to propose viable solutions, of high commitment and relevance. It was until February 2010 when the first University Council approved the General Organic Statute of the Autonomous University of Mexico City (UACM) and on May 7, 2010, the 2010-2014 administration began its work.
