The Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS) at Torrens University is Australia’s leading hotel school for hospitality education. The School is known for its internationally recognised hospitality and business degree courses, all of which are highly regarded within the hospitality industry.

For over 25 years BMIHMS’ innovative approach to teaching has blended practical real-world experience with theoretical business knowledge. This methodology has proved essential to the success of its graduates, many of whom go on to become industry leaders in a diverse number of industries. BMIHMS has produced more than 4,000 graduates from over 50 countries. Due to its successful Industry Placement program and extensive network of hospitality industry partners including major hotel chains, boutique properties, resorts and events companies, BMIHMS students have excellent employment prospects.

BMIHMS offers students the opportunity to study at an undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Undergraduate students can complete a Bachelor of Business specialising in International Hotel and Resort Management, or International Event Management. Each course is completed in just two-and-a-half years and includes two industry placements.

Postgraduate students can complete a Master degree in International Hotel Management or Global Business Management. Each Master’s degree is completed in two years and includes six months of professional work experience. Courses are delivered over two custom-designed campuses. Undergraduate students study on campus at Leura, in the Blue Mountains, at the Practical Learning Centre. Students study as guests and train to be members of staff in a simulated hotel and restaurant environment, before moving on to complete their degree at the Executive Business Centre in Sydney. Postgraduate students also study at the Sydney Campus, which is located in the heart of the city. BMIHMS at Torrens University holds full national and state accreditation within Australia and is a division of Laureate International Universities, which is the world’s leading higher education provider.

Leura Campus - Practical Learning Centre Located on 2 hectares of landscaped private gardens, 1.5 hours from Sydney, the residential Leura Campus has well-appointed accommodation and modern teaching facilities. Various recreational options for students include visits to independent boutiques, bookstores, chocolatiers, craft shops, art galleries, shopping malls, cinemas, bars, clubs, an extensive choice of restaurants and several local festivals. If you are athletic, there are various local, modern sporting facilities, such as golf courses, gyms, and a fitness and aquatic centre for you to enjoy. The Leura Campus is situated in the Blue Mountains, one of Australia’s most spectacular and popular tourism destinations. There are countless outdoor attractions minutes away from campus: world heritage-listed national parks, the famous Three Sisters rock formations, bush walks, tours, whitewater rafting, horse riding and more.

Sydney Campus – Executive Business Centre

Located in the central business district of the city, the Sydney Campus boasts state-of-the-art teaching facilities and a professional learning environment. On campus, lounge areas are available for students to sit, talk, eat and study together. This ideal position means that students are in the hub of connecting transport routes, making it easy to commute to classes. Many of Sydney’s tourist and sporting attractions, as well as shopping and entertainment precincts are literally on the campus doorstep. A thriving vibrant local economy means that students have numerous part-time work opportunities close-by, as well as access to major hotels, tourism ventures and events companies.

Accommodation - Leura

Students live on campus and make lifelong friendships with students from over 40 countries. The campus is run as a simulated hotel with students being the guests as well as the staff, which means they are immersed in the world of hospitality. Students live in twin share hotel style rooms, all with private ensuite bathrooms, telephone and 24/7 Wi-Fi internet access. Rooms are serviced once a week and all linen is provided.

Accommodation - Sydney

The Sydney campus is non-residential, and students secure their own accommodation. Students can easily find accommodation as there are plenty of options available close by.

The School has secured accommodation on request (subject to availability) and is a 20-minute walk, or a short bus ride from campus. This accommodation will be in an apartment with 3 or 4 single bedrooms, sharing with other BMIHMS students. Included is a furnished bedroom and lounge, kitchenette (with crockery and utensils), television and internet access. Students will have access to laundry facilities.
