Introduction

The IUA, a body dependent on the Argentine Air Force, was created under the name of Escuela Superior de Aerotécnica on December 13, 1947 (Decree No. 39144), later changing its name to School of Aeronautical Engineering, joining the National University System in the year 1971 (Decree No. 3179/71)

Its current name was approved by Resolution No. 3/93 of the Ministry of Culture and Education, where it is categorized as a University Institute, and by Law 24,521 it integrates the set of National University Institutions.

The purpose of the IUA is to impart university education, carry out scientific and technological research, and cultural extension and technology transfer actions, in order to contribute to the fulfillment of the FAA's mission, in accordance with the aerospace interests of the Nation.

The incorporation of the Distance Education modality in 1987, gives it a new profile by bringing the university closer to the most remote places in Argentina.

In 1996, the microsatellite µsat I “Víctor” was put into orbit, the result of long years of aeronautical and space research, thus integrating the privileged group of universities in the world that has obtained this scientific achievement.

Thus, based on the level of excellence achieved throughout its history, the Institute managed to become a fundamental pillar of the past, present and future of Córdoba and the country.
