This intensive, 36.00 credit-hour graduate program prepares students to address complex communication issues from a strong, theoretically grounded, and methodologically driven perspective. Providing a foundation of communication theory and mixed methodological training, the program allows students to specialize in various subfields such as public relations, organizational communication, interpersonal communication, cultural studies, mediated communication, and digital media. Full- and part-time students are equally welcome to apply. Graduate Assistantships under the Graduate Student Support Plan are available for full-time students only. Our students come to us with varied goals and leave us to further those goals in diverse contexts — non-profit agencies, public relations firms, training and development organizations, and governmental agencies, to name a few. Many become college instructors and lecturers in Communication or continue their education in doctoral programs.

The Master of Science in Chemical Engineering (MSCHE) is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline who wish to pursue a graduate degree in chemical engineering. Outstanding students with degrees in biochemistry, chemistry, physics, and other branches of science and engineering may also qualify for admission with the completion of required pre-requisite courses.

The Master of Civil Engineering (MCE) is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline who wish to pursue a graduate degree.

The Master of Economics degree is a non-thesis coursework only degree that offers two tracks: the Applied Economics and Policy Analysis Track, and the PhD Preparatory Track.

Master of Education in Higher Education Administration - Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development (ELPHD). North Carolina State’s Higher Education program provides exceptional opportunities for students interested in higher education administration to explore a core body of knowledge, gain real-world professional experience, and pursue advanced study.

The Cell Biology Concentration Area encompasses research at the molecular and cellular levels in the following disciplines: gastroenterology, oncology, pulmonary biology, ophthalmology, reproductive endocrinology, pharmacology, neurophysiology and neuroanatomy, and cellular differentiation and morphogenesis. Research approaches employ a wide variety of molecular, biochemical, pharmacological, and microscopic techniques, utilizing cell culture and whole organisms. Students selecting Cell Biology will focus their research efforts on one or more of these areas. A highly individualized curriculum of study is designed to meet the needs and interests of the student while satisfying selected requirements by the faculty. These include graduate-level cell biology, biochemistry, and cell biology seminars. Additional courses may be chosen by the student and his/her advisor from a large number of college and university offerings.

The Master of International Studies (MIS) is a professional degree program that prepares students for exciting careers in government service, international institutions, and non-governmental organizations. An affiliate member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs, the MIS program joins distinguished universities around the world in providing a global education for the 21st century.

PHIL 100 CRITICAL THINKING. This course focuses on developing skills in logical reasoning, analysis and evaluation. Critical thinking is the number one ability sought after by employers across the board, and the number expectation of an undergraduate education. This class gives the students the tools, terminology, and techniques to develop their own reasoning abilities to think critically and skeptically about issues in any field. (3) T1 CT

The Master of Engineering distance education program serves the needs of students whose schedule or location does not allow for on-campus study, working professionals wishing to obtain an advanced degree, or those who are seeking to change fields within engineering. It is a 30-credit-hour degree program that does not require a thesis, final oral exam or on-campus residency. Students design the plan of study which best meets their career or educational goals, taking courses from at least two engineering disciplines to create a general degree program.
