Through practical and theoretical studies, this two-year programme aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of sustainable chemical and process engineering as a field and its imperative value to the growth of areas such as biofuel, energy efficiency, waste management and many more.

We offer a Master's course in Process Engineering, Environmental Protection for international students. The program provides knowledge on modern technologies of water treatment, wastewater treatment, waste management and utilization. Graduate is able to solve problems related to planning, designing and control of technological processes, supervision and operation of installations for water and wastewater treatment as well as disposal and management of municipal and industrial wastes, independently or in an international team. Graduate knows and applies advanced research techniques and tools as well as analytical and simulation methods.

Focusing on raw materials selection, process and equipment design and operation, safety and environmental management as well as cross-disciplinary issues, the program offers both strong theoretical and application-oriented courses fostering skills and knowledge for sustainable engineering deployment in future society. This is a European-accredited Master engineering program according to the EUR-ACE system.

The MSc in Bioprocessing explores the fundamental science behind bioprocessing ranging from molecular biology to downstream processing in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals.

Graduates of the Master in Chemical and process engineering: Sustainable Technologies and Biotechnologies for Energy and Materials will have the training to go on to work in numerous fields, including the conventional chemical and process industry (petrochemical, specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical), the wide-spread energy industrial sectors (up-stream and down-stream Oil&Gas, energy generation, green energy production), and many other specialized sectors (material production, food technologies, industrial biotechnologies, etc.).

In three semesters, the Master in Process Engineering program equips students with advanced knowledge in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, and thermal process engineering, biotechnology or food technology.

The Master's degree program in Environmental, Process, and Energy Engineering provides comprehensive knowledge to design both existing plants and new concepts in a sustainable manner. With solid skills in purchasing strategy and negotiation, the purchasing engineer in an industrial environment sets up a flow of resources, goods or services, adapted to the company's strategy and development.

This master program is fully lectured in English and seeks to provide technological training for professional purposes in the several fields covered by Chemical Engineering, including chemical process engineering, control, and process optimization, besides the specialization in polymers, environmental technology, and biotechnology.

A specialised master's in Chemical Engineering, the MSc Advanced Process Integration and Design started in the Department of Chemical Engineering (UMIST) over twenty years ago. The programme was a result of emerging research from the Centre for Process Integration, initially focused on energy efficiency, but expanded to include efficient use of raw materials and emissions reduction. Much of the content of the course stems from research related to energy production, including oil and gas processing.

This programme is aimed at candidates with a university degree who wish to become more highly qualified with a view to taking on expert and management roles in the fields of technical development, logistics, purchasing, production, manufacturing, planning, or consulting. Upon completion of this Master's degree, you will be qualified for employment in many fields, from technical development, logistics, and purchasing to all areas of production, manufacturing, and planning, as well as consultancy work. Many companies are setting up special departments with names such as Supply Chain Optimisation, Lean Management, Process Design, Process Management, etc. that deal with the comprehensive optimisation of processes and methods. This in-depth training will make you highly suitable for positions in these areas. After successfully completing your studies, you will be awarded the academic degree of Master of Business Administration and Engineering (or MBA & Eng for short). In contrast to an MBA in Business Administration, the MBA & Eng have a technical orientation and is thus tailored to the needs of industrial engineers, engineers, natural scientists, and specialists in business administration with a technical background. This degree qualifies the holder to undertake doctoral studies.
