The Master of Philosophy in Science provides students with a unique opportunity to undertake original research and gain in-depth knowledge in their particular scientific field. Students have access to staff that are leading researchers and experts in their field. Undertaking this course allows students to explore their research potential and develop research skills. This course is designed to provide a pathway to the UTS PhD program.

The Master of Philosophy develops independent research skills and the ability to relate a specific research topic to a broad framework of knowledge.

The Master of Philosophy is conducted over two years of full time study or the equivalent in half-time candidature. The key aim of the program is to train students in research methodology and techniques and to engage them in the critical evaluation of literature and results in their field of research at an advanced level.

William Angliss Institute is the only TAFE in Australia to offer a research-based Master of Philosophy and the only non-university to offer a Master of Philosophy by Praxis and Exegesis.

The Master of Philosophy is a higher degree by research in divinity or one or more of its associated disciplines. It is designed for individuals who bring a foundation within this disciplinary range.
