Business analytics is the increasingly sought-after ability to support management decisions through quantitative and data-supported algorithms. The course is intended to provide students with the necessary specialist knowledge and methods, taking into account the requirements and changes in the professional world, in such a way that they enable them to reflect scientifically, to apply scientific findings and methods, and to act responsibly in the relevant professional fields. Graduates of the course are able to analyze company data and give recommendations for action on this basis. For this purpose, quantitatively oriented training takes place with method emphasis in optimization, algorithms, and data science, which also includes programming and software practice.

The master's degree in “Controlling and Risk Management” prepares you for entry into finance and risk management as well as a treasury or controlling. You will find fields of application in companies, banks, and management consultancy. Big data, cyber risks, FinTech's, and ever-stricter regulatory requirements determine the job description. Increasing volatility in the markets but also negative interest rates pose increasing challenges for controllers, treasurers, and risk managers, whose fields of activity are growing ever closer together. The master's degree in “Controlling and Risk Management” reacts to these changing demands on the job market and offers students a customizable profile made up of five controlling and five risk management modules.

At the beginning of the master’s program there is a block of four large modules with which the mathematical and engineering fundamentals are deepened. The aim of these modules is to bring students with different entrance qualifications to a uniform level of knowledge. The students set their own priorities in their master’s program: Depending on their inclination and interest, they choose applied engineering content from extensive catalogs. Experimental and programming technical laboratories in small groups serve to deepen and supplement the knowledge imparted. The students develop their skills with comprehensive modules: The module P4 "Ergonomics" establishes the relationship between engineering and ergonomic knowledge (interface "man-machine"). The elective module W8 enables the in-depth study of a foreign language (English, French or Spanish) and thus improves the international perspective. In addition, business knowledge is acquired. The mandatory six-week industrial internship creates opportunities to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired to practical issues and to get to know some practical issues for scientific processing. With the final master's thesis, the students finally prove that they can independently work on a scientific question or a typical occupational task using scientific methods and present the results appropriately.
