Human-computer interaction is one of the most important considerations in any kind of technological development. So how can you include the user in the development of new, interactive technologies?

Situated Design is a graduation track of the Master of Arts in Fine Art & Design at Avans. The programme recognizes you as a distinct presence in the world. You immerse in modern discourses and focus on prevailing conditions, situated knowledge and design practices. Your studies will take place within a diverse community of master's students from different backgrounds. You frequently collaborate with each other, across pathways and outside of the campus. This way you gain experience in a wide range of practices and establish a valuable network. Situated Design maintains strong connections with designers, publishers and institutions in the Netherlands and abroad.Through exposure to a variety of design methodologies and practices, students learn to iterate design concepts and are able to analyze, inform and shape their projects from concept to final project. Students learn to design with emerging technologies and creative software to create new perspectives and innovative forms of design and user experiences.

The MA in Middle Eastern Studies focuses on modern and current themes while offering intensive study progress supervision. We also provide a Master's program and/or placement abroad to the students who are interested. The program emphasizes current developments in the Middle East. You will study four core themes: history, politics, culture, and religion. There are three specializations in the first semester: Conflict, International Organizations, and Research Seminar.

The Master of Arts in Management programme is for managers who wish to pursue studies at a higher level by adding a specialisation. Students build on their knowledge from the work environment and previous learning, whilst developing a critical theoretical perspective which will inform their own developing Management practice.

The mission of the MA in Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling Psychology program is to provide its participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to become competent in counseling psychology through academic and experiential learning. The program aims at educating future psychologists who have sound knowledge of the theory and practice of counseling psychology, who are competent consumers and creative producers of social science research, who are competent in counseling practice, and who are ethical and sensitive to the cultures, values, and worlds of various clients.

MAPs is closely connected to the local landscape, culture, andcrafts in the North of the Netherlands; a hands-on environmentto experiment with local materials, traditions, crafts andknowledge. In addition to exploring local perspectives, we alsoinvolve research into the impact of global processes and trendsconcerning materials and connected traditions, crafts, andknowledge.Together with fellow students and other stakeholders youwill also contribute to a dynamic archive of materials, bothphysical as well as digital. The dynamic archive is designedto be an active, evolving resource, that will be continuallyupdated, and improved. The digital archive will give insight intomaking processes, collaborations, material developments andexperiments.

Upon successful completion of the study program students receive an international private Master in International Management (MIM) degree with a specialization in Technology Management, awarded by the school's main campus in Zurich, Switzerland, based on the recommendation of the faculty of the local campuses where credits were earned, and upon the recommendation of the school's Academic Council.

This is a graduation track of the Master of Arts in Fine Art & Design. Ecology Futures states clearly what we stand for: not a singular future, but a plural one.

This one-year Master of Animation is directed towards realizing your creative potential. You will learn to critically and creatively integrate innovatory studio work with theoretical principles. You explore storytelling in animation and compare this with your own artistic vision and style. You carry out research to discover which developments in the field of animation are relevant to your practice. You acquire experience in studio work and focus on planning, feasibility and production processes, with an emphasis on testing your own artistic freedom in relation to working on commission.

The Master's track in European Literature and Interculturality is located at the Department of European Languages and Cultures. This international, interdisciplinary and multilingual environment offers excellent opportunities for research and immerses them in vibrant networks of experts across different European countries and languages. The following languages can be chosen as major languages: French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish and Swedish.

The MA in English Literature and Culture is an academic humanities degree with a socially relevant focus. We offer you academic excellence with transferable skills, with the resources of a large research university but with small classes (typically 10-15 students), in a friendly ambiance that contributes to our positive student feedback.
