The subject of Interiors is a dynamic and nimble discipline which moves between the fields of Architecture and Design, creating diverse responses that have a strong desire to improve the lives of those who interact with existing buildings and interior space. You will investigate and interpret interior space, inside and outside of the traditional architectural envelope, considering adaptive reuse, human occupation, spatial experience and social innovation as potential catalysts for design propositions.

The MA Interior Design Programme engages you in exploring emergent ideas and issues concerning distinct aspects of the design of the interior. This incorporates research, practice and making work that explores the diversity of human occupation in numerous environments, extending from the room to the city. The programme encourages the view that the interior is an interface between its occupants and the built environment, and it supports the notion that the interior is an agent for social change.

This MA programme is designed for art, architecture, and design graduates who wish to specialise in creative approaches to the making of the interior. The programme works contextually and aims to provide an adaptive response to under-utilised built-heritage at risk.

Some of the major innovations in performance practices over the past hundred years have been drawn from scenographic developments. Drawing from past and present approaches to performance design, these Scenography courses are concerned with exploring dynamic and innovative interplays between the body, space and time further informed by a variety of disciplines including sculpture, digital media, puppetry, choreography, film, architecture and sound.

Drawing on vibrant interior design practices in London, this course integrates design practices, multidisciplinary work, research and analysis, and practice-based learning, with an overall focus on sustainable spatial design. This course will prepare you for the diversity of design practice and employment opportunities open to you in the interior design industry.
