Introduction

Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (ZUST) is a multi-disciplinary university specializing in engineering and incorporating disciplines in science, arts, economics, management, and education, etc with two campuses: Xiaoheshan Campus, and Anji Campus. Currently, ZUST offers 16 English-taught undergraduate programs and 12 English-taught postgraduate programs. Moreover, ZUST provides a master's degree program in International Chinese Language Education and a bachelor's degree program in Business Chinese for Chinese language beginners. With the further development of international cooperation and the establishment of distinctive undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the number of international students is increasing significantly.

Campus Features

ZUST has two campuses

Xiaoheshan Campus is located in the historical and cultural city of Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province, which is one of the most prosperous provinces in China. Situated at the foot of Xiaohe Mountain, it has a tranquil lake on its campus and is surrounded by hills.

  • A 30-minute ride from West Lake, the UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • A 20-minute ride from Alibaba Headquarters, the world's largest and most valuable E-commerce service provider.

Anji Campus is located in Anji County, which has won the United Nations Habitat Scroll of Honor Award.

    Admissions

    Application Procedure

    1. Log on ZUST online application website and open an account
    2. Fill in the application information, upload the scanned copies of relevant application documents, finish the entrance exam, and pay the application fee of CNY 400 or USD 65
    3. ZUST will review the application, which takes about 7~14 days to process
    4. If you are accepted, you will receive an electronic Pre-Admission Letter
    5. Pay the Pre-Paid Tuition fee(CNY 3000 or USD 500 for degree program applicants) to confirm their registration, and send the payment proof to [email protected]. It takes about 2-3 weeks for ZUST to process the electronic JW202/ DQ form
    6. Download the Electronic Visa Application Form(JW202) or Short-term International Student’s Information Form(DQ) and receive the Official Admission Letter
    7. Apply for a Study Visa at the Chinese Embassy
    8. Register at ZUST.

    Notes: Please check your email and application system constantly after submitting an application. Application deadline: July 30 for the fall semester and January 20 for the spring semester.

    Application Materials

    Applicant should log in to the online application website, fill in the information truthfully, and upload the following application materials in the system as required:

    1. Scanned copy of passport, scanned copies of all visa pages in China
    2. Applicants should be foreign citizens. Foreign citizens of Chinese origin who are now applying to study in China as international students must have held a valid foreign passport for at least 4 years, and must have actually resided in a foreign country for at least 2 years in the past 4 years (as of April 30, the enrollment year) (9 months of residence in a foreign country may count as a full year)
    3. A scanned copy of the notarized graduation certificate and transcripts including all courses (in Chinese or English); If the original certificate and transcripts are not in English or Chinese, a notarized translation version is also required

    1. Students applying for English-taught programs and whose native language is not English are required to provide proof of English proficiency, such as IELTS, TOEFL, or other English proficiency certificates, or pass the entrance English test of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology
    2. Students applying for Chinese-taught programs are required to provide proof of Chinese proficiency

    1. Certificate of no criminal record; no drug use or drug-related commitment letter
    2. Application fee payment voucher (RMB 400 or USD 60)
    3. Students already in China should provide a transfer letter or study certificate given by the previous school with attendance rate and study performance
    4. Statement of Financial Support (Bank statement to prove that the applicant has sufficient funds to afford his or her tuition, accommodation, and living expenses in China)
    5. Valid Foreigner Physical Examination Report.

    English-Taught Programs

    Undergraduate (Bachelor)

    Qualifications Needed for Admission

    1. Applicant should be aged between 18 and 35
    2. The applicant should be in good health
    3. With a high school degree or above, fresh high school graduates will be issued a pre-graduation certificate by the school they are attending
    4. Applicants should be foreign citizens. Foreign citizens of Chinese origin who are now applying to study in China as international students must have held a valid foreign passport for at least 4 years, and must have actually resided in a foreign country for at least 2 years in the past 4 years (as of April 30, 2023) (9 months of residence in a foreign country may count as a full year)
    5. Applicant should have no criminal record and no drug addiction history; Applicant should be willing to abide by the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China and relevant school regulations
    6. Language proficiency: Applicants for English-taught programs must provide IELTS, TOEFL, or other English proficiency certificates or pass the Zhejiang University of Science and Technology Entrance English Test. IELTS scores must reach 5.5 points or above, TOEFL iBT scores must reach 80 points or above, and applicants for Chinese-taught programs must provide an HSK4 certificate, of at least 180 points
    7. All the applicants need to take the university entrance examination or assessment.

    Postgraduate (Master)

    Qualifications Needed for Admission

    1. Applicant should be aged between 18 and 45
    2. The applicant should be in good health
    3. Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens. Foreign citizens of Chinese origin who are now applying to study in China as international students must have held a valid foreign passport for at least 4 years, and must have actually resided in a foreign country for at least 2 years in the past 4 years (as of Apri 30, 2023). (9 months of residence in a foreign country may count as a full year.)
    4. Applicant needs to have a bachelor's degree and provide the bachelor's degree certificate and undergraduate transcript. Graduating students should provide the pre-graduation certificate issued by the school they are studying in
    5. Good moral character and no criminal record; Willing to abide by the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China and the relevant rules and regulations of the school; Provide drug-free commitment
    6. Applicant should have the language ability to attend the relevant courses. Applicant applying for English-taught programs is required to provide IELTS ( score 6 or above), TOEFL (score 85 or above ), or other English proficiency certificates or pass the Entrance English Test of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology(ZUST). Applicant applying for Chinese-taught programs is required to provide an HSK 5 certificate with a score of 180 or above
    7. All the applicants need to take the university entrance examination or assessment.
