Introduction
The M.S. in Industrial Engineering offers advanced studies in operations research; optimization; supply chain and revenue management; financial engineering; quality and reliability engineering; and product design and development. This program is offered online or on-campus with thesis and non-thesis options available, giving students the flexibility they need to succeed.
The M.S. in Industrial Engineering degree is offered on-campus and online. Students may choose to pursue the thesis or non-thesis option in the program. As a general guideline, students who do not wish to pursue a Ph.D. program should enroll in the non-thesis option; students who plan to pursue a Ph.D. must complete the thesis option.

Curriculum
Both the thesis and non-thesis options are offered online and on campus. Degree requirements are the same for online and on-campus students.
Thesis Option
- 12 credit hours of 500-level industrial engineering courses.
- 4 credit hours of approved STEM courses outside of the major.
- 8 credit hours of elective courses chosen in consultation with your advisor.
- 8 hours of thesis credit.
- Total: 32 credit hours
Non-Thesis Option
- 12 credit hours of 500-level industrial engineering courses.
- 4 credit hours of approved STEM courses outside of the major.
- 16 credit hours of elective courses chosen in consultation with your advisor.
- 4 credit hours of independent study.
- Total: 36 credit hours
Optional Concentrations
The following concentrations are available for students in the Industrial Engineering M.S. program, regardless of whether you're pursuing a thesis or non-thesis option, or whether you're in the residential or online program. Please keep in mind that these courses can count toward your mandated credit hours and are not in addition to them.
