Introduction
The objective of this master's degree is to train future business managers in accounting and financial analysis, the use of appropriate planning, valuation and financial management techniques, knowledge of budget control and management techniques, the choice of financial products, the application national and international accounting regulations or consideration of tax aspects.
In a business environment as globalized and competitive as the one we find ourselves in, companies, and especially SMEs, demand professional management and administration services, aimed at maximizing the resources available to them, guaranteeing the existence of useful information for decision-making and to face the challenges of internationalization and the increase in uncertainty and competition in the markets. This implies the need to train future business managers in the practice of accounting and financial analysis, the use of appropriate techniques for financial planning and valuation and short-term financial management, knowledge of international accounting standards and accounting of business combinations, the choice of the most appropriate financial products or financial risk management, as well as considering various tax aspects of great importance in the context of accounting and financial management of the company.
The profile of the professional focused on finance and accounting requires a substantial adaptation, going from the figure of the traditional director or manager with a purely technical and administrative function to that of a professional whose mission is focused on the preparation of information systems for the decision-making and critical analysis of said information so that the decisions made are the ones that best contribute to the creation of value.
This master's degree gives access to the Doctoral Programs offered by the Faculties of Economic and Business Sciences and Business Administration and Management.
Curriculum
The master's degree offers a total of 66 ECTS distributed in three modules during an academic year, of which at least 60 must be taken to obtain the title:
- Mandatory: 42
- Electives: 12
- Master's final project: 6
- Total: 60
The 60 credits that make up the Master in Accounting and Financial Management and Management are distributed over two semesters:
In the first semester the student will take most of the compulsory subjects: six subjects of 6 credits.
In the second semester, students must take one compulsory subject and two optional subjects of the three offered (all of them 6 credits). They must also complete the Master's Final Project (6 credits) in this second semester.
The master's degree is taught in person and in Spanish.
Program Outcome
Its objective is to train managers with a clearly differentiated profile from that which could be obtained by taking other postgraduate courses linked to the company, providing students with the theoretical framework necessary to understand the reality of business accounting and financial management and promoting the development of skills. and skills that managers in the accounting-financial field need to carry out their work in a globalized context with increasing complexity, both through work in the classroom and through professional internships.
The Master will also provide a solid base of knowledge for those students interested in working as financial analysts or in business banking.
