Introduction
Master in Product and Digital Technology
The Master in Product and Digital Technology aims to train qualified human resources with a transdisciplinary technology profile, able to take on leadership roles in the ongoing digital transformation, particularly at smart products and industry 4.0, based on sustainability principles.
The MPDT aims to empower students to:
- build a knowledge base to act and promote innovation and technological development in the area of digital based product and industrial technology;
- solve complex problems in new unfamiliar situations, under multidisciplinary contexts;
- integrate knowledge and make judgments on complex issues with limited or incomplete information, including reflections on ethical and social implications and responsibilities;
- communicate problem solutions to diverse audiences in a clear and unambiguous manner;
- develop lifelong autonomous learning skills.

Program Outcome
The MPDT intended learning outcomes are:
- Acquire and apply advanced knowledge in digital based product and industrial technology in the development of original solutions, in a multidisciplinary context, in the areas of product development, digital manufacturing and integrated production systems;
- Identify and evaluate research and technological development opportunities created by the digital transformation, and plan and lead their implementation;
- Propose, validate and defend original solutions, in the context of digital transformation in products, production technologies and business models, independently and in teams;
- Communicate opportunities and solutions, clearly and grounded, to specialized and non-specialized audiences;
- Develop autonomous research and learning capacity, maintaining an informed, up-to-date, creative and critical attitude about digital based product and industrial technology, opportunities, challenges and ethical and sustainability aspects.

The Masters in PDT will have advanced technical-scientific skills to:
- Joining (or return) as professionals in the digital transformation of companies, from product/systems development to the implementation of processes and production management
- Joining as researchers in technological centres of interface and knowledge transfer between academia and industry;
- Proceed to doctoral studies in scientific areas of Sciences, Engineering and/or Design in Portugal or abroad.
