Introduction

To achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and mitigate the effects of climate change, it is necessary to carry out an intense decarbonization process, exponentially increasing the use of renewable energies and energy efficiency to the detriment of fossil fuels. The Master in Renewable Energy in Thermal Systems is oriented towards advanced professional training in thermal energy systems, including renewable energy sources, transformations and energy uses. This is a sector with a very high employability and great social support.

The master's degree will provide engineering expertise and skills to evaluate, design and simulate renewable energy based thermal systems, including:

  • Capture of the renewable energy source, focusing on fluid-thermal aspects: solar energy, bioenergy, geothermal, wind, hydro and marine energies.
  • Transformation into the desired type of energy: thermodynamic power cycles, heat pumps, heat engines, combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, digestion, hydrogen production, fuel cells and thermal storage.
  • Energy end uses or applications: industrial and building uses, energy simulations, energy efficiency and decarbonization.

The master's degree is taught by professors from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid with extensive teaching and research experience at the highest level, and has the collaboration of relevant companies in the sector. The objective of the master's degree is to train professionals who will contribute to the necessary energy transition to achieve the ambitious goal of climate neutrality.
