Introduction
This program has been developed in cooperation with the University-Consortium in Science and Technology, BALTECH, and is simultaneously running in 4 universities in Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
The program focuses on the following topics: Digital Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Planning and control and financial, Strategic & Financial Management, Supply Chain Management, Quality Management, Rapid Product Development, Production Planning, and Management, Production Digitalisation, Internet of Things for Industry and Innovation.
The keywords of the present situation worldwide are production globalization, international and local cooperation, and dynamic markets. For those reasons, concepts such as design, development, and management of integrated systems of people, knowledge, equipment, and materials are included in the curriculum.
Why this Program?
- Covers the main engineering and business management areas; technical courses are combined with economic and social courses
- Teaching staff includes lecturers from the industry and international professors
- On-site visits to manufacturing firms and lots of area-related associations for students (ABB, Ericsson, Bestnet, Cybernetica, etc.)
- Different interactive games for Lean production, 5S and production management and optimization, skills development
- Students can use different equipment in Protolab (3D scanners, 3D printers, and laser sintering units) and Flexible Manufacturing systems and Robotics Demo Centre (Virtual and Augmented reality technologies)
- Different ERP, PLM, CAD, CAE, and Factory Floor Planning software are used in the study process
- Master's theses are commonly based on real-life problems of the industry/company and therefore possess a practical value on top of an academic one. Many graduates proceed to work for the companies after graduation
- The background of the students is very diverse. In addition to a variety of former educational paths, there is also a significant proportion of working professionals who are able to enrich the learning process with their practical experience. That also enables valuable networking opportunities for foreign students.
Admissions

Program Outcome
Aims and Objectives
The program provides the students with the following:
- A sound knowledge of the design development, implementation, and evaluation of integrated manufacturing systems of technology, and knowledge of the needed equipment, people, and materials. Industrial engineering includes studying the principles and methods of engineering analysis and synthesis, as well as operations management, systems engineering, manufacturing engineering, or manufacturing systems engineering
- Problem-solving skills required in developing up-to-date knowledge and procedures and skills in integrating knowledge from fields of manufacturing engineering and management, the ability to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, energy, and other resources. The graduates must also be capable of demonstrating how to integrate management systems into a series of different technological environments
- An understanding of how the relationships work between the tasks of planning, organization, leadership, control, and the human element in production, research, and service organizations;
- To provide the prerequisite for obtaining the professional degree of Mechanical Engineer.
Learning Outcomes
- Has knowledge about mathematics, natural and technical sciences, Show less..as well as economics, and are able to implement them in developing technical systems and solving economic problems (including product planning, system analysis, and synthesis, as well as applying methods of simulation and information technology)
- Knows scientific and engineering methods concerning product development, production systems, and their components (production processes, devices, tools, work environment, etc.) in solving problems and tasks, considering economic, juridical, ethical, and environmental limits, knows theoretical patterns of their specialty, actual problems, and implementation possibilities
- Can evaluate and analyze field-related problems to guarantee competitive advantages in production planning, solving development strategy and production management problems; can analyze micro- and macroeconomic indicators, apply economic methods in related fields
- Knows management conceptions and can apply them in market situations while planning, organizing, managing, and controlling a small enterprise
- Is able to define the most important economic definitions, can identify the main economic-theoretical (development economy) conceptions, and explain the conception of the technological-economic paradigm
- Can financially draft a business plan.
Graduates of this programme will be awarded a Master of Science in Engineering (Industrial Engineering and Management), (MSc).
Scholarships and Funding
Students can apply for performance scholarships. The amount of the scholarship is 100 € (euros) per month. First-year students can apply from the second semester. For more information, please contact the university.
Career Opportunities
