Curriculum
The Master of Taxation curriculum includes a set of foundation courses, which can be waived for those who have had recent study in the subject areas or for current, practicing CPAs, and required taxation courses. Students who need to complete foundation courses should take them the summer prior to starting the MTax program.
MTax Program Highlights
- Complete the MTax degree in 21 months by attending classes one evening per week throughout most of the program, or in as little as 15 months in the online MTax Direct program. Classes start at 5:20 p.m. and end by 10:50 p.m. An entrance exam (GMAT) is not required for practicing CPAs or for attorneys with at least two years of experience.
- The curriculum includes 24 credits of required taxation courses and 6 credits of taxation electives.
- Find out about the rest of the classroom-based MTax Program requirements.
Class Schedule
Because of the enhanced nature of this program, the live sessions do not follow the University’s traditional semester calendar but are grouped into five 10-week terms (avoiding the spring tax season). Each class meets one night per week from 6 - 9:30 p.m.
NOTE: Summer has multiple terms: Most summer classes are offered online. So International students who want to start in summer could take those classes online prior to coming to the United States for the Fall semester. US ICE requirements expect international students to take in-person courses in the first semester in the United States which cannot be done at UA in the summer.
