Introduction
Spalding University&rsquo's Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) is a professional program, which provides a gateway for students and professionals outside of the field to become athletic trainers. Because no prior experience is necessary, Spalding's MSAT program is accessible and offers entry points at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. The program prepares students to serve in a variety of health, educational, and community settings and emphasizes reflective learning by having students actively participate in practice opportunities. MSAT faculty members work collaboratively with each student to enhance learning and success in the profession.

Spalding&rsquo's MSAT is the first master’s level professional athletic training program in the state of Kentucky. Employment of athletic trainers is projected to grow 17 percent from 2021 to 2031. The average salary for an athletic trainer is $50,000+ and varies based on practice setting and location.

MSAT classroom learning is enhanced by 4 clinical education rotations. Students have the advantage of practicing with clients across the age continuum in a variety of settings:

Endowed and Named Scholarships
Our endowed and named scholarships are funded by gifts from alumni, friends and faculty of Spalding. Scholarships are awarded annually based on financial need. Completed application for admission and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are required. Award amounts and qualifications vary by scholarship, but funding is available to students across academic programs. Learn more about our endowed and named scholarships.
Alumni Discount
Spalding graduates with a bachelors or masters degree may qualify for a 10% discount on tuition for the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Master of Science in Business Communication, Doctor of Social Work, and Post-professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate.

Career Opportunities
Athletic trainer services include injury/illness prevention and wellness protection, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation, and organizational and professional health and well-being. More than 70 percent of certified athletic trainers hold at least a master’s degree. With our master’s degree in athletic training, you will be prepared to practice in a myriad of settings:
