The Master of Civil Engineering programme trains you to become an expert in the science and technology of construction and prepares you to take a leading role in the sustainable development of our built environment. It provides you with the broad foundational knowledge that is necessary to realize structures that are safe, durable, energy-efficient, cost-efficient, healthy and comfortable, and with all the necessary skills to tackle the complex scientific and technological problems that the construction sector is facing today and in the future.

Student Profile
You have a broad interest in the technology of modern construction and want to understand how structures perform and interact with their environment in terms of safety, durability, energy efficiency, cost efficiency and human health and comfort.
- You have a solid background in physics and mathematics and know the basics of civil engineering, including strength of materials, structural mechanics, building physics, and the design of structural members in concrete, steel and timber.
- You want to become an expert in the science and technology of construction and to contribute to the technological revolution that is taking place in the construction industry, from circular buildings to smart infrastructure.

Thanks to the extensive study curriculum and the focus on the development of analytical and problem-solving skills, graduates with a master's degree in Civil Engineering can take up virtually any senior role in the construction sector, which is very broad and diverse. Graduates are employed by large contracting companies, specialised engineering consultants, manufacturers of construction products and systems, infrastructure companies, architectural offices, specialised governmental agencies, and research institutions, among others.
