Master’s programme in Textile Engineering

Get the skills in and become prepared for employment within management or qualified research functions in textile-related engineering, for example, material and product design and development, manufacturing, functional and interactive textile structures.

This education is the only one in its kind in Scandinavia, and one of few in Europe. During the education, you develop your knowledge, skills, and assessment skills in textile technology.

Here, the starting point is textile fibres: What do they consist of, what significance do they have, and what could be done with them. This education links together and specialises in different elements that develop both theoretical and practical knowledge. One of these recurring elements throughout the education is the sustainable development perspective.

The essence of textile engineering is to make textiles maintain their textile feel even when they get new abilities and interactivity through different technical processes. In order to succeed, the processes need to handle the special conditions of the textiles. This is why the courses emphasise process thinking with its aspects of sustainable development, which is also a decisive driving force for the faculty’s research. The students’ practical laboratory skills are trained through written assignments, and the demands on the scientific communication skills increase by every assignment.
