Introduction

In this double degree programme, you will study accounting and finance with a strong sustainability perspective. Graduates can pursue careers as sustainability experts in areas like sustainable finance and CSRD compliance, while also being well-prepared for roles in traditional finance and accounting. The programme's unique integration of sustainability, along with its international scope, equips you to make a real impact in shaping sustainable business practices.

Since there is an increasing need for professionals who can deal with the global challenges and institutional regulation related to the financial and ESG reporting requirements, this programme was designed as a response to this need. Especially the EU Sustainable Finance Framework has been, and will be, increasing demands on knowledgeable finance and auditing professionals in corporations and audit firms.

The Master's programme in Sustainability reporting and financial analysis will offer its students knowledge and education in sustainable finance, financial and ESG analysis, and sustainability reporting competencies and skills required to meet the needs of the job market. This programme is also the first one year master's programme by an university or business school in Finland.

The students will be taught both science-based decision making and understanding theories as well as how to use their knowledge in real-life cases and current challenges. This way the students get the best of both world - both the academic, more theory-heavy knowledge and practical knowledge from real-world cases.

The programme will be taught full-time in English, full-time and on-site in both Umeå and Vaasa. This means that the students graduating from the double degree programme will receive degrees from both universities. At the centre of this programme is the idea of the students participating in so-called experimental learning projects, where theory meets practice and the students will be addressing real-world financial and non-financial reporting challenges.

Why choose a one-year double degree master's programme?
