Introduction
Our curriculum focuses on producing graduates who have the knowledge and skills in cyber security and information assurance. The educational philosophy of the Master of Science in Cyber Security and Information Assurance (CY) is defined as Student-Centered Approach, Constructivism and Essentialism Blending and is also aligned with Mahidol University’s educational philosophy.
Essentialism has been employed to deliver some core essential knowledge in CY to students while the Student-Centered Approach and Constructivism are common philosophies adopted by the university. Our graduates are equipped with the abilities to apply security knowledge and principles to design, implement, and evaluate cyber security and information assurance systems for their organization, and to collect and analyse data to perform computer/digital forensics facilitating the investigation of cyber crimes.
The Internet Technology has played a crucial role in transforming our lives. We are now connected to each other more than ever. This innovation helps drive our social well-being and businesses to an unforeseen level. The widespread usage of portable computers and mobile devices allows us to share information and conduct business from anywhere at any time thanks to the underlying communication infrastructure capable of transporting large amounts of data across the globe. However, some people exploit this free information-sharing capability to benefit their personal interests at the expense of others. It is known that the number of malicious incidents and the average damage done by those incidents are rising. We, as an educational institution, must respond to this alarming increase in malicious activities. This Master's Program is, therefore, specially established to build a strong foundation for students in the areas of Cyber Security and Information Assurance so that they can help the country cope with current and new issues in cyber security and information assurance.
