Coastal Carolina University offers over 100 undergraduate and over 30 graduate-level (doctoral, educational specialist, masters) major fields of study, including specialized concentrations. The University offers a Ph.D. in marine science: coastal and marine systems science, and a Ph.D. in education. The most popular undergraduate majors are marine science, management, exercise and sport science, and communication. CCU boasts a growing array of internship, research, and international opportunities for students, as well as numerous online programs through Coastal Online.

‌The University comprises 115 main buildings on our walkable campus, comprised of 621 acres, including the Coastal Science Center and the Burroughs & Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies, located in the Atlantic Center on U.S. 501, and the General James Hackler Golf Course at Coastal Carolina University, a public 18-hole golf facility located adjacent to the campus. A 1,105-acre tract that includes a portion of Waties Island provides a natural laboratory for extensive study in marine science and wetlands biology on an Atlantic coast barrier island.

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program is an avenue to initial certification. The program starts in June and students progress through all steps to finish the following July.‌ Students in this program must earn a baccalaureate degree, or the equivalent, in the content area of teaching specialization.

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Instructional Technology is a 30 credit 100 percent online program that provides teachers and other professionals advanced training in the utilization and integration of technology to improve teaching practice, learner performance and professional productivity in schools, businesses, government, healthcare, military and other industries. Teaching certification is not required for admission. Certified teachers employed full-time in S.C. public schools are eligible for discounted tuition rates and may qualify for M-level pay after degree conferral. The Master of Education is for candidates who are interested in becoming principals at various levels of K-12 schools. The Specialist in Educational Leadership is for candidates aspiring to district-level leadership positions or want advanced level professional development.
