Introduction
The Erasmus Mundus International Master in Quantum Technologies and Engineering (QuanTEEM) offers you a unique international educational experience with a focused curriculum on quantum technologies, by bringing together the expertise of research groups at three renowned EU universities.
The backbone of the programme is a multi-disciplinary approach in physics, materials (including nanostructures), and computer science, which will make you a skilled expert and quantum engineer. With this multi-disciplinary approach, you will address aspects and challenges such as energy, materials, health, security, and the environment.
The programme has been granted EU’s prestigious Erasmus Mundus label and is offered jointly by:
- Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté (UBFC)
- Technische Universität Kaiserslautern (TUK)
- Aarhus University (AU)

Admissions
Curriculum
This 2-year programme contains 120 ECTS credit units and leads to a Master of Science (MSc) in Quantum Technologies and Engineering (QuanTEEM). The curriculum is tailored to comprise all the aspects of quantum technologies with a spectrum of courses based on the established pillars:
- Quantum computation
- Quantum communication
- Quantum sensing and imaging
- Quantum simulation and multidisciplinary applications
The program offers a choice of specializations that define different possible mobility tracks.
Specialisations and Tracks
The first semester is common for all students and takes place at Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté (UBFC).
In the second semester, you specialize in one of two proposed tracks:
- Photonics which takes place atUniversité Bourgogne Franche-Comté (UBFC).
- Many-Body Quantum Physics which takes place atTechnische Universität Kaiserslautern (TUK)
In the third semester, you select one of two proposed tracks:
- Integrated Quantum Optics at Technische Universität Kaiserslautern (TUK)
- Platforms for Quantum Technologies at Aarhus University (AU)
During the fourth semester, you perform your master’s thesis research at any of the three institutions or any of the QuanTEEM-associated partners.
