Introduction

The Master of Architecture is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board as a first professional degree, a requirement of licensure for becoming a practicing architect in the United States, and a terminal degree for many design educators around the globe.

Our curriculum is designed for students with baccalaureate degrees in any field to acquire a first professional degree, but also supports advanced standing for students with baccalaureate degrees in architecture and related fields.

Focused on preparing forward-looking students, our curriculum highlights innovative practices, new techniques and technologies, and transdisciplinary approaches to architectural research, inquiry, and design.

Study Abroad

Syracuse Architecture offers opportunities for graduate architecture students to spend a semester or a summer studying abroad at the University’s center in New York City or in Asia as part of our Three Cities program.

Graduate students typically study away in the summer of the second year of the MArch program. Our programs are also open to advanced BArch students who are currently enrolled in an accredited architecture program. Special scholarship opportunities exist to aid students in taking advantage of these programs.

  • New York City
  • Three Cities: Asia

In addition to the regular semester offerings, students have opportunities to study at sites worldwide as part of our short-term travel programs during the regular semester and in the summer. Previous programs have included travel to Taiwan, Ghana, Greece, Germany, Russia, Spain, Austria, China, and Japan. In all cases, the programs of study are an integral part of the curriculum making them easy and attractive options.

The School of Architecture also offers a unique program designed for students who are not currently in a professional program in architecture but would like to study architecture in a foreign setting.
