Introduction
This master's degree delves into the study of Spanish and Latin American cultures taking into account the current context of globalization. The core of the program is made up of subjects related to the cultural dimension of the area (literatures, languages, art, cinema, architecture, cultural history). Special attention is devoted to the interactions between Flanders and the Spanish-speaking world, as well as to processes of identity formation in Spain and Latin America.
¿De qué trata el programa?
As a Belgian university deeply marked by its multicultural past (and present), KU Leuven offers a multidisciplinary post-initial master's degree focused on the interaction between different cultures in the Iberian and Ibero-American world. The historical and cultural ties between the former Netherlands and Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries (visual arts, music, architecture...) are studied, as well as linguistic variation among Spanish speakers and the mutual influences between Spanish and Spanish-American literatures and cinemas. Contemporary theoretical perspectives on interculturality and globalization are explicitly integrated into the discussion.
