The perfection of an image is not enough, it is like the beauty of a face: if it is not expressive it does not give us emotions. The image must be, in combination and integration with words, the metaphorical expression of the concept / heart of the communication strategy. It must create emotions, it must make people dream, it must also transgress from the parameters of beauty and / or technical perfection, it must be remembered and not forgotten.
It is not enough to be an art director, one must be an art director: this profession is increasingly difficult, today we are all soaked and now saturated with images, it is the new, the different that catches our attention and still fascinates us.
The dream of working in advertising creating what were once called "slogans" - where the image was a corollary of words - was and is the dream of many young people, but until the advent of technology, this dream could only be realized for those who, in addition to feeling creative and attracted by that particular form of art that is advertising, had the so-called good hand, those who knew how to draw.
The advent of technology has changed the world and, in the world, has certainly changed what were considered the prerequisites for an art director.
Today they can aspire to become art directors even those who can not draw but possess the in-depth knowledge of some programs that allow to produce highly qualified images, absolutely more accurate in the smallest detail of those made by hand.
The Master in Art Direction of Accademia di Comunicazione is aimed at those who already possess most of the technologies, which have acquired the indispensable graphic base, which have already experimented a bit in the advertising area, but which need to harmonize all that they possess in creating a forma mentis, through which to convey their creativity, experimenting under the guidance of Creative Directors (who will then find again in the Agency when they go to work), in the creation of advertising campaigns for Companies, No Profit Associations or for prestigious Italian and international competitions.
For those who want to take part in the Master but who, despite having a good starting point, do not possess all the necessary requirements, it is possible to evaluate the participation in a two-year course.
The professors are Creative Directors, Art Directors and Experts of Visual Communication of the most important Italian and international agencies.
For its history and the quality of the training methodology the Master has obtained the patronage of the Italian Art Directors Club.
The competences acquired in this Master are valid at EU level within the EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERMANENT LEARNING (EQF) .

During the Master the students participate in national and international competitions and receive briefings from the Marketing Managers of Companies from which they are evaluated.
During the year, under the guidance of teachers and tutors, there are also:
- Visiting Professor from abroad, for the realization of thematic workshops;
- Real Briefs in collaboration with Public Bodies and Non-profit Organizations;
- Participation in national and international competitions;
- Project and realization of the portfolio.
Stage after the courses
The internships, foreseen at the end of each Course, are to be considered first of all as a period of perfecting one's own formation and secondly as a possible opportunity for future work. For these two reasons, the internship is not automatically decided on the basis of pre-existing agreements with pre-established number of companies, but assumes that every year a specific and precise request by the Company is made with respect to which the students are preselected by the Academy, sent to the selection interview and selected by the same company. It is therefore not only the curriculum and the guarantee that the Academy gives to the Company, but what the individual student during the interview will be able to demonstrate with regard to their abilities and the way of presenting themselves, which will determine the choice of the Company itself. .
Accademia's commitment to the organisation of "ad personam" internships that is renewed every year without ever yielding to automatisms of fixed agreements, is aimed at encouraging the possibility that at the end of the internship the student will be confirmed with a contract.
