As the program was developed, leading sports industry professionals and law firms were consulted in order to ascertain the skills and knowledge that students would need in order to best position themselves for employment upon graduation. Qualified students will earn two professional degrees – Columbia’s market-leading Master of Science (MSc) in Sports Management and ISDE’s innovative Master in Global Sports Law – over the course of 12 months of intensive classroom study in New York City, and another four to six months of hands-on internship experience with a leading sports organization in the United States, Europe or elsewhere. You should possess at least an upper second class first degree (or equivalent), or have considerable experience in a related field with evidence of outstanding ability and potential. Good spoken and written English are vital. IELTS level 6.5 is a minimum. You should have sound academic skills (research, writing, presentation) and basic competence in IT skills. Above all, you need to have an inquiring mind, an aptitude for sharing and communicating ideas, and a desire to develop as an independent and self-motivated thinker.
