First Year of Graduated Studies: The first year of Graduate Studies (Diplôme Universitaire), MMEF - Mathematical Methods in Economics and Finance, is a one-year, full-time, international programme that is taught in English. The courses correspond to those taught in the first year of Graduate Studies, which in the Bologna European Academic System is the first year M1 of the Masters. The courses derive from pre-existing courses at the university, with intensive courses in French. The degree is devoted to the training of students in the use of mathematical models in economics and finance: mathematical economics, strategic analysis, decision theory, stochastic models, mathematical finance and optimization models. The training is built around a large spectrum of courses, which aim to give the knowledge for the modelization of economic and financial problems, for mathematical formalization and tools for the numerical solutions. The new models in finance, economics and decision theory need a coherent training in these fields. Around 50 students are welcomed each year. Admission is made on the basis of academic excellence. All applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English and have a recognized Bachelor Degree or equivalent (180 ECTS credits in the Bologna system). Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling (TCCM) play a key role in the development of modern chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, physics and material science. This has motivated six Universities leaders in the key disciplines of the field to set a consortium and offer a joint TCCM Master course. The creation of this joint Master has two main objectives:    * establish a European standard for Master training;    * promote the international mobility of Master studentsin the TCCM field. This idea has successfully attracted other 41 European higher education Institutions which have decided to join the TCCM Master consortium and has convinced the European Chemistry Thematic Network (ECTN) to support the initiative.The TCCM Master is meant to prepare experts in using and developing molecular sciences computational techniques to either work with innovative pharmaceutical, petrochemical and new-materials industries or to follow future doctoral studies in Chemistry, Physics, Life or Material Sciences. It is articulated in 120 ECTS credits and can be accessed by students having a Bachelor in Chemistry, in Physics or in Material Science. Other scientific bachelors can also be accepted (provided that the student integrates his/her preparation as recommended by the local Tutor).In the first year (M1), 12 ECTS credits are devoted to a levelling course, 3 to the improvement of the student's command of a European language and 30 to compulsory courses in Mathematics, Statistical Mechanics, Molecular Quantum Mechanics, Programming and Numerical Methods; Group Theory; Reaction Dynamics and Spectroscopy delivered locally in the official language chosen by the participating Institution. The remaining 15 ECTS credits will be devoted to knowledge acquisition in Advanced Chemical Physics, Thermodynamics, Spectroscopy, Chemical Dynamics, Solid State Chemistry or other subjects chosen freely after advice by the student's supervisor.The second year (M2), has a marked international character, and includes teaching and research activities. 24 credits will be devoted to the acquisition of a solid background in advanced Theoretical chemistry and Computational Modelling subjects (Advanced Electronic Structure Theory; Molecular and Chemical Dynamics; Advanced Computational Techniques; Computer Modelling and Simulation; Condensed Matter Theory) and related applications in Nano Science and Technology, Models of Biological systems; Materials by design; Reactivity and Catalysis; Excited State; Atmosphere and Space processes. For this purpose a mandatory four-weeks Intensive course will be organized. Lectures of the Intensive course will be delivered by the best specialists of the consortium and experts taken from third countries. The remaining 36 credits will be devoted to research activity. Compulsorily, part of this research activity (the equivalent to 18 ECTS credits) will be carried out in a member Institution of the consortium in a different country.The defence of the Master Thesis at the home Institution will conclude M2 and will entitle the student to bear a Master degree in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling delivered by his/her home Institution jointly with the other members of the Consortium....
