A masters is awarded to students who have completed postgraduate level study in a specific field of study or area of professional practice while demonstrating a high level of mastery during the process.
The Master in English program will provide theoretical grounds to pursue a research program. In addition, students can become practicing teachers or enter other fields that will develop their general cultural understanding as related to the English language.

The program is designed to provide education for teachers of the English language. The curriculum includes courses in the areas of practical language, linguistics, literature and culture, and ELT methodology. Emphasis is put on the methodological implications of all the disciplines and their practical application to the students’ teaching practice at lower secondary schools.
The host department is the Department of English Language and Literature and it offers both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs.Graduates are able to Use spoken and written English language at a C1+ level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and apply the acquired knowledge in their own teaching. The degree is a combination of professional and research tracks, and it is designed for national and international graduates, with or without experience, who wish to work professionally in the field of English language teaching.Admission
To be admitted to the programme, students must hold one of the following qualifications:Pre-Bologna Bachelor’s Degree in English Studies; Bachelor’s Degree in English; Bachelor’s Degree in Modern Languages, Culture and Communication; Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpretation, or other qualifications with a foreign-language component such as the Diploma in Primary-School Teaching (Foreign Language Speciality), the Bachelor’s Degree in Infant Education or Primary Education (Speciality in English), and the Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, and other similar qualifications. The Master’s Degree is also open to holders of some sort of official university degree (bachelor’s degree, pre-Bologna bachelor’s degree or 3-year diploma), or an equivalent that may not be directly related. In the latter case, students will be required to take a bridging course (see specific regulations). An official qualification issued by a higher education institution in the EHEA, which enables its holder to be admitted on a master’s degree programme in the issuing country. In response to the growing demand in Europe and Latin America, as well as in the rest of the world, for improvement in the quality and effectiveness of English language teaching in both the public and the private sector, a programme in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) has been developed. It is specifically designed for distance learning and has been developed in collaboration with La Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (FUNIBER).
The programme aims to help practicing teachers, or those wishing to become teachers, address in an informed and principled way the issues and professional needs that relate to their own working environment.
