One of the principles of training students at the department is the unity of educational, research, and extracurricular activities. The department implements a personality-oriented approach in educational activities, taking into account the intellectual and social needs of each student, his subject-professional orientation. The educational activity is an important link in the formation of professional competencies of future bachelors and masters of special (defectological) education. Students are actively involved in the implementation of sports, leisure, socially significant projects carried out at the faculty and at the university. One of the main directions of educational activities carried out at the department is social design and volunteer activities. Students, together with teachers, through cooperation with the non-profit foundation "Psychologist" (supervisor - candidate of psychological sciences Zaborina L. G.), implement socially significant projects aimed at supporting people with disabilities. Among them are the projects “Home patronage of disabled children with a low ability to rehabilitation and their families” (2007-2008), “Give joy - get a smile” (2009), “Psychological support of children with complex developmental disabilities” ( from 2011 to the present; became the winner of the competition for innovative projects "Youth - the main potential for the development of Siberia" in 2011), -
