Introduction
This course offers high-level training in aesthetics and cinema theory, leading to the writing of a personal research thesis on a film object. The "Cinema Aesthetics" Master's course is aimed more particularly at students with general licenses in film studies. Backed by the PLH laboratory - "Heritage, Literature, History," this course provides high-level training in aesthetics and cinema theory, open to the professions of teaching, research or the press and specialized documentation. It invites the student to take a qualitative intellectual leap from the knowledge previously acquired in the cinema license.
The student learns to develop an argument and raise issues according to a personal research subject (thesis) with regard to the knowledge constituted and the historical and cultural contexts linked to it. There, he/she acquires a high-quality writing practice in line with research tools and scientific writing standards. There, he/she learns to communicate his thoughts and the reflections that underlie his research problems.
TARGETED SKILLS: analyze a film, raise issues, develop an argument, build long-term thinking, mobilize theoretical and documentary knowledge, write according to scientific standards, communicate the results of research.
