The Teaching Master of French as a Foreign Language (FLE) program offers training the main objective of which is the acquisition of the following skills: a) academic knowledge in FLE didactics (theoretical approaches and current methodologies); b) professional knowledge concerning the teaching of the language in question (practices, experience of the school environment) and c) principles of management in education. The program therefore offers training that offers both essential tools for analyzing teaching situations and practical tools that allow intervention in professional sectors affecting the teaching process.
The Master program in FLE didactics is aimed at FFL teachers working in the public and private sectors in Cyprus or elsewhere, who wish to acquire a greater specialization, but also to future teachers or specialists in the field of the Francophonie who wish work in Cyprus or elsewhere. It is also intended for graduates of French studies from the University of Cyprus or to holders of other French diplomas, or to holders of other departments of the University of Cyprus or other Cypriot or foreign universities. wishing to acquire a specialization in teaching French as a foreign language combined with expertise in management and administration of education.
From an academic point of view, the program aims to support graduates of French Language and Literature, or other holders of diplomas from the French-speaking world, according to the current requirements of the teaching of French as a Foreign Language and the modern labour market. in Cyprus and outside Cyprus. More specifically, it offers in-depth training, lasting three semesters (4 courses from the Department of French and European Studies + 2 courses from the Department of Educational Sciences and / or the Department of Psychology + dissertation or internship) , which offers both the necessary tools for analyzing learning situations and practical tools for intervention in professional fields linked to the didactic process. From a research perspective, the aim of the program is to provide the opportunity for its graduates to pursue doctoral studies in the Department of French and European Studies, or other Departments of the University of Cyprus that have similar research subjects (eg Department of Educational Sciences, Department of Psychology) and Universities in other countries with research perspectives on this subject. The program spans three semesters during which the physical presence of the student at the University is compulsory. However, students have the option of spending the maximum time allowed by the Regulations of the University of Cyprus at institutions abroad under the LLP / ERASMUS + program. Within the framework of exchange and cooperation programs between the University of Cyprus and departments, laboratories or research institutes abroad, the co-supervision of the Master's thesis is a possibility favorably considered.
The courses of the Programme are offered in French, with the exception of courses from the Departments of Educational Sciences and Psychology which are taught in Greek. The language of the given bibliography corresponds to the language of the seminars. The dissertation or the internship report is written in French or Greek, in a subject related to the teaching of French as a Foreign Language.
