Advancing Engineering Leaders
Rutgers School of Engineering provides students with a strong technical background and prepares them for leadership careers in exciting and challenging professions. Both our teaching and research are firmly rooted in scientific principles while incorporating knowledge of today’s challenges.
- Master of Science (MS)
Rutgers Master of Science program in Packaging Engineering meets the growing demand for professionals in the world’s third-largest industry. One of the few graduate packaging engineering programs in the tri-state area and the nation, we prepare next-generation talent for careers across a wide spectrum of industries.
Our multi-disciplinary program is designed for packaging engineers with backgrounds in everything from mechanical and materials science engineering to chemical and industrial engineering. Engineering professionals receive the skills and training essential for career advancement in packaging design and development, manufacturing, project management, and sustainable and innovative packaging.
The graduate packaging engineering program recognizes the demands of industry and employer need by giving students the opportunity to focus their studies in three areas of specialization:
- Packaging Applications
- Packaging Design
- Packaging Materials
MS 30: Course Credits
Students must complete 27-course credits – including a minimum of 5 3-credit PE graduate courses (15) and a 3-credit Master Project. The final oral exam will consist of a written report based on the Master Project and an oral presentation of the report.
MS (thesis, non-thesis): 30 Course Credits
Program requirements include at least 30 credits, including 24 credits of coursework and a 6-credit thesis and oral defense (thesis) or 6 additional credits of course or project work and a writing requirement (non-thesis).
