Introduction
The Master of Science in Civil Engineering of the University of San Marino Republic is organized in collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. It meets the needs of an area with business and professional dynamic realities strongly developed in the construction and infrastructure sector.
Civil engineers are technical experts who contribute to the planning, implementation, management, and maintenance of environmentally sustainable works necessary for the advancement of society. Engineers can operate in various settings, assist in the planning, production, management, and organization of projects, providing technical-commercial assistance to companies, performing impact assessments and risk analyses, and managing preventive and emergency security. Their work can be performed as self-employed professionals with public works or services companies or in public administrations. They are responsible for residential and industrial buildings, bridges and viaducts, dams, harbor and maritime works, aqueducts, roads, railways, and airports. They are also involved in waste management and treatment systems, wastewater purification plants, environmental impact assessments, soil protection against hydrogeological risks, the treatment of pollutants, materials recycling, and energy management and protection. These professional competencies are closely connected to the local territory, and today, as in the past, this degree prepares students for direct entry employment.
