The opportunities for entrepreneurship are vast in the current global environment. Technical innovations are making great impacts on people’s lives and contributing successes to different economies. In this unique programme, students are provided with the opportunities to experience the entrepreneurship journey through coursework, internship, and the creation of a marketable product/offering and the business plan that goes with it.
The TLE programme offers students with interdisciplinary experiences and opens up career prospects to technology management and entrepreneurship.
This MPhil programme seeks to develop students' entrepreneurial spirit so they can initiate innovation within companies or start their own business using hi-tech technologies. It aims to play a catalytic role in developing an innovative educational culture and entrepreneurship ecosystems on the University campus and to accelerate knowledge transfer to impact society.
Students are required to undertake coursework including TLE and technology core courses, attend TLE seminars, participate in business competitions, and undergo industrial internship for a minimum of two months.
Students must also successfully complete and defend a thesis that demonstrates their research capabilities for product development and understanding of the commercial aspects on how to make the product successful in the marketplace.
The programme duration is two years of full-time study.
The Technology Leadership and Entrepreneurship (TLE) programme specifically addresses the development of technical innovation, leadership skills and capabilities for entrepreneurship.
For their research, students can select the development of a product based on their own idea or work on one of the current ideas from a professor within the university. Either case, students are matched with a leading research professor who can help them to develop their research skills and make the idea into a marketable product.
During the programme, students can also develop partnerships with other students on campus to develop their product and start up their own company.
i. General Admission Requirements
Applicants seeking admission to a master's degree should have:
- obtained a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, or an approved equivalent qualification;
ii. English Language Admission Requirements
You have to fulfil English Language requirements with one of the following proficiency attainments*:
- TOEFL-iBT 80
- TOEFL-PBT 550
- TOEFL-Revised Paper-Delivered Test 60 (total scores for Reading, Listening and Writing sections)
- IELTS (Academic Module) Overall score: 6.5 & All sub-scores: 5.5
*If your first language is English, and your bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification was awarded by an institution where the medium of instruction was English, you will be waived from fulfilling the above English Language requirements.
