Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MATESOL) degree program


Saint Michael's College's internationally-recognized and respected MATESOL program trains students to teach English to speakers of other languages in the US and abroad. It has eight options including the MATESOL (36 credits); MATESOL: OnLine + OnCampus (36 credits); and Peace Corps Master's International Program (36 credits).

Additional programs are MATESOL + PK-12 Licensure (46 credits), MATESOL + PK-12 Endorsement for Licensed Teachers (36 credits), and ELL Endorsement for Licensed Teachers (18 credits). The Graduate Certificate in TESOL (24 credits) and TESOL Diploma Program are also offered.

Financial Aid at Saint Michael's College

St. Mike’s does not impose the numerous additional fees found at other schools, such as course credit fees, health fees, student fees, technology fees, or parking fees. What's more, their Student Financial Services Office is waiting to help you manage your tuition, through Federal Direct Unsubsidized and Federal Direct Graduate PLUS loans. We also offer a tuition payment plan through Tuition Pay.

The Master’s degree in TESOL (MATESOL) has drawn students from the United States and at least 60 other countries. It has been a part of Saint Michael’s College since 1962.This 4-week, 120-hour summer professional training program covers all essential aspects of English language teaching from a practical classroom perspective. It offers concrete experience with methods and techniques that reflect current principles of communicative language teaching and learning. Graduates of this program receive a Diploma in TESOL and are typically hired by English-language programs in the US and other countries. [+]

The Master’s degree in TESOL (MATESOL) has drawn students from the United States and at least 60 other countries. It has been a part of Saint Michael’s College since 1962. Our graduates serve as professors and instructors in Applied Linguistics and TESOL throughout the world. The program offers theoretical and methodological training integrated with practical coursework. Typically, students complete the full program in three or more semesters. Find out why students choose St Mike's! OnLine + OnCampus Option For those who want maximum flexibility and convenience. Spend two consecutive summers in beautiful Vermont. Remaining course work (12 credits-4 courses) is completed on line. The summer session lasts 6 weeks from late June to early August. Upon successful completion, students receive MA degree in TESOL. Summer Diploma Program in TESOL This 4-week, 120-hour summer professional training program covers all essential aspects of English language teaching from a practical classroom perspective. It offers concrete experience with methods and techniques that reflect current principles of communicative language teaching and learning. Graduates of this program receive a Diploma in TESOL and are typically hired by English-language programs in the US and other countries. Conditional Admittance If your English is not strong enough to embark on a full-time Master’s program, Saint Michael’s may offer you conditional admittance into its program. This means you may improve your English in our Intensive English or Academic English courses until you reach the required level, and then transfer into the Master’s program.
