Marymount University offers a Master of Education degree with teaching licensure for elementary or secondary grades through its Reston Center, as well as its nonlicensure Master of Education in Professional Studies. You can earn your degree in two years of part-time study in weekend classes. These cohort programs are ideal for career switchers who have an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than Education and now wish to teach. It is designed specifically for students who have full-time commitments Monday through Friday during the day.

The program begins in late August with classes meeting on Friday evenings and Saturdays in the fall and spring semesters. Marymount University’s Master of Education in Administration and Supervision is an online program designed to prepare students worldwide for school administration in Catholic schools, as well as public or private schools. Participants complete the course of study in a cohort, supporting each other and sharing experiences and insights. Courses are designed and sequenced to help participants grow in their spirituality and leadership abilities. This is especially beneficial for teachers whose schedules can make attending on-campus courses difficult.

The program begins with an intensive two-week, six-credit, summer residency at Marymount University allowing them also to take advantage of the history and culture of the Washington, DC, area. Marymount’s Master of Arts in Legal Administration prepares students to advance in the rapidly growing legal and paralegal fields. Its curriculum integrates practice with theory. Marymount faculty members are expert practitioners with relevant experience in the legal arena.

Marymount also offers a graduate certificate in Paralegal Studies, which can be completed with the master’s degree or independently for students who have a previously earned bachelor’s degree. The certificate requires successful completion of coursework and 24 hours of pro bono legal service to the community.

Marymount’s programs are distinct among other Washington area institutions. Both the degree and certificate are approved by the American Bar Association. Marymount’s master’s program is one of only a few master’s degree programs in the country approved by the ABA, and the certificate program is the only ABA-approved graduate certificate in the Washington area in which the student earns college credit.
