Founded in 1537, the University of Lausanne is composed of seven faculties where approximately 11,500 students and 2,300 researchers work and study. Emphasis is placed on an interdisciplinary approach, with close cooperation between students, professors and teaching staff.

The University of Lausanne is situated at the heart of the French-speaking region of Switzerland, in the middle of Europe - close to France, Germany, Italy, and Austria.

The UNIL campus is spread across three locations, the largest of which is in Dorigny, on the shores of Lake Geneva. This picturesque landscape, with views of the Alps and the lake, provides the ideal setting for study and research.

Faculty of Business & Economics - HEC Lausanne

The aim of HEC Lausanne is to train future business managers and experts, giving them requisite knowledge in the areas of management and economics while also raising awareness of the importance of an interdisciplinary approach and the international dimension, as well as helping to form their personality. The Faculty's main areas of expertise are Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Information Systems and Management.

Organised in collaboration with the University of Geneva, this programme aims to train future leaders of business enterprises and future experts in accounting, control, finance, auditing and tax systems. It also prepares students for possible studies leading to the doctorate.

 

The content of the first two semesters of the programme include a range of courses covering basic areas of the programme: financial accounting, management control, corporate finance, external auditing and tax systems. The courses represent a continuation of those offered in the Bachelor's degree programmes of the Faculties of Business and Economics of Geneva and Lausanne and assume that students have already acquired the knowledge developed in these respective fields.... In addition to providing strong theoretical bases, the aim of this training is to teach the participants to apply the know-how implicit in their qualifications.

 

The Master of Science in Finance at our Universities is a two years programme, 120 ECTS, constructed around four semesters. During the first semester we consolidate the previous bachelor knowledge with the core courses in finance. The next two semesters are dedicated to a specialisation, either in wealth management (Geneva), in financial engineering (Lausanne), or in financial analysis preparing for the CFA (Neuchâtel).... The Master of Science in Management provides advanced training in the field of management by providing students with the most recent tools based on research in economics and applied psychology.

 

The first semester is common to all students. In the second and third semesters, the students choose, in addition to the compulsory courses, the students can choose one of the four specialisation programmes, each representing 30 ECTS credits: Marketing, Organisational Behaviour, International Management, Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship. Some options are common to other Master's degrees.

The fourth semester is dedicated to the writing of a Master thesis. It may be a research paper, or related to an internship. In this case, the student must find the host company and submit an application to the Master's Committee.... [-]
