Umeå School of Business and Economics

Umeå School of Business and Economics (USBE) is a campus school and has over 170 employees including about 90 PhDs and researchers. The activities consist of research and teaching in Business Administration, Economics and Statistics. The School offers seven master’s programs, four graduate programs, two undergraduate programs and courses. We have more than 2000 students going through our programs/year.

International exchange is an important component of student life at Umeå School of Business and Economics. Our 70 partner universities around the world send students to Umeå every year, and about 45 % of our business school graduates have spent one or two semesters abroad as part of their curricula.

Internationalization

A school with international connections A primary goal of the Umeå School of Business and Economics is to offer students an international study environment. This includes the opportunity to pursue studies abroad, to receive course instruction in English, and to study in the milieu of a large number of international students and guest professors. Research exchanges are commonplace, and many internationally active researchers come to Umeå for varying periods of time.

The programme aims to prepare students with skills involved in launching and leading businesses but also to use those skills to develop and run business with a direction towards international expansion and growth. With the exception of some elective courses, the program is offered in English. Level of Education: Second degree studies.

 

 

Program Outline

All courses are studied in sequence and not parallell. This means that you study one course at a time full time for five weeks then you have an exam and then the next course starts. There are four courses each semester. If you are used to a parallell system this might sound like very few courses but the expected workload for one semester is at least 40 hours per week in this system of sequencial studies.... [-]

Umeå University, Umeå School of Business and Economics Master´s Program in Economics About the programme A growing need for knowledge in economics is a feature of an ever-evolving society. The Master's Program in Economics seeks both to broaden the content of the undergraduate program and to provide students with essential tools for advanced studies and a career as an economist. The faculty members teaching and supervising in the Master's Program in Economics have strong standing in the international research community and good connections to authorities and firms. Students completing the Master's Program in Economics may apply to our Ph.D. program. Since the program is a research oriented program based on the PhD-program, many of the courses are transferable to the doctoral level. The program starting fall 2015 offer two new profiles in addition to the general profile: - Environmental- and resource economics - Health Economics Within the scope of CERE and with our partners at Swedish University of Agricultural Science we have created a profile in Environmental- and resource economics and together with the Faculty of Medicine we can offer a profile in Health Economics.
