Mission and goals The programme provides a preparation particularly focused on issues of design, operation and maintenance of aircraft and their on-board systems. The objective is to prepare highly culturally and professionally qualified technicians able to carry out and manage activities related to research and design in the fields of aerodynamics, materials, lightweight structures, aircraft systems and aerospace propulsion in national and international contexts, both in autonomy or in cooperation. Career opportunities The graduate finds employment in aeronautical and space industries; in public and private bodies for experimentation in the aerospace field; in aircraft fleet management and maintenance companies; in air-traffic control agencies; in the airforce; in industries producing machinery and equipment in which aerodynamics and lightweight structures play a significant role. Aeronautical engineers are particularly sought after in related fields. In fact, they may be involved in the design of terrestrial or nautical vehicles or large buildings or bridges or even in the design of power plants. Chemical Engineering plays a pivotal role because all these challenges have a common denominator: they involve chemical processes. Eligible students Students holding a Bachelor degree and at least 15 years of education are eligible for application. For admission to the Master of Science in Chemical Engineering, a strong preparation both in general core disciplines (mathematics, physics, etc..,), and in those specific to chemical engineering and industrial engineering is required. The main elements that characterize and distinguish the “Politecnico” education in fashion come from the culture of the made in italy, its connection with the fashion companies and its aim to combine tradition with innovation, crafts with technologies, heritage with progress, dreams with discipline.In particular, the course mission and goals focus on three aspects: development of integrated design skills (product- communication-service) orientated to the “fashion system”; development of knowledge of the fashion system and the relations between the various players, development of specific multidisciplinary knowledge concerning economic, humanistic, sociological and artistic disciplines. Eligible students Candidates should be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or other equivalent Italian or foreign degree recognised as appropriate. In all cases admission will be granted only after appraisal of the candidate’s educational background and the assignment of any necessary curricular integrations. Professional opportunities Graduates in Design for the Fashion System are flexible and suitable for carrying out design activities in fashion companies, working on integrated product-service system design. They also find good employment opportunities in professional activities working on product research, trends and development for fashion companies. Part of the activities are carried out also at the University of Genova and others at the Politecnico di Milano. Students’ formation involves both new design as well as refitting of existing yachts and vessels. Themes of interest are: mega-yachts, regatta boats, ship interiors, nautical accessories and set-ups. The course prepares figures able to manage project complexity both of the craft as well as their components and accessories, from concept development to implementation. Head of Course: Prof. Massimo Musio-Sale All the main parts of the nautical and shipping sector have been expanding considerably in recent years: pleasure craft, mega-yachts, racing boats, cruise ships, shipping accessories and furnishings. However this expansion is only partly sustained by professionals trained for the purpose, who are able to add value to specifically Italian features and boost the competitivity of the national economy. The Master Degree in Nautical and Shipping Design was set up as a logical complement to the range of courses in shipping design for years offered by the La Spezia University Campus.
