Master in Arts Management

The Master in Arts Management is a 11-month full-immersion interdisciplinary course, that is truly unique due to its itinerant formula. The study plan is divided in the two prestigious locations of Florence and Rome, with the addition of Venice, with a one week workshop, to engage students in a grand tour of contemporary art and education, with a focus on the jobs of the future. The Arts Manager operates with a highly interdisciplinary method and is intended to be a fundamental figure in the activities of public and private institutions, with many areas of professional application. With this Master, IED will form a central figure for the life of cultural institutions, engaged in art project management, capable of identifying innovative content, of structuring a comprehensive event schedule, of planning and developing fundraising events and resource management. The partnership with major cultural institutions, including Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, MIBAC, Federculture and Peggy Guggenheim Collection, ensures that students will have the most renowned teachers and a unique experience in the field. THIS PROGRAM IS TAUGHT IN ENGLISH This study path is opened to graduates in humanities and artistic fields coming from all over the world who want to develop their artistic knowledge through a study-tour that touches the main Italian artistic cities. Participants will complete their educational pathway studying subjects and institutions related to the management of the artistic and cultural world. The Master in Arts Management is divided into two operational modules, characterised by a distinct course of study in relation to the city in which it takes place, each involving an examination and a final project. Some of the subjects of the course cut across the modules, while others are specific and unique to each location. The Master is held in partnership with the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, the MIBAC (Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities) in Rome and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. At the end of the course, students will be ready to work in arts and cultural companies and institutions (e.g. museums, foundations, galleries, festivals, auction houses), in the so-called cultural sectors (national and international cultural institutions, profit and nonprofit), in areas related to contemporary art and with large enterprises investing in the cultural market (banks, insurance companies, banking institutions, event management companies, trade fair organisations, art foundations, exhibition production companies, or companies operating in the communication world). FLORENCE - Design of exhibitions and events The Florence module focuses on developing specific skills to manage the different organisational phases of a Cultural event: from the design to the identification of partners and sponsors, to communication management and content creation. As a group, with the support of teachers and the course coordinator, students will plan and create one or more cultural events with real clients. ROME - Art Direction: focus on festivals The goal of this module is to develop a new approach to artistic heritage management. The Master’s semester in Rome combines the huge culture that the city plays at international level with the vivacity of the backgrounds that characterises its urban culture. With the support of new technologies, students will explore possible cultural convergences that stimulate interest and participation. VENICE - 1 week Workshop In partnership with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, students will participate in a one-week workshop in Venice. They will visit the main institutions and meet the professionals of the Peggy Guggenheim. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is one of the most important museums in Italy for European and American art from the first half of the Twentieth century. It is located in the home of the famous collector Peggy Guggenheim, at Palazzo Venier dei Leoni on the Grand Canal in Venice. [-]

Master in Brand design and management: food, wine and tourism

THIS PROGRAM IS TAUGHT IN ENGLISH One-year Dual Masters Course in Barcelona and Florence. The overall aim of this course is to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals able to offer a new managerial approach to the tourism/food and beverage sector in the touristic/hospitality and catering industry. The course’s structure, which includes a detailed curricula based on Brand design and management, prepares future innovative professionals in the fields of tourism, hospitality, food and wine services. The Master’s main goal is to encourage the development of professional proficiency by implementing an active approach based on “Learning by doing” that blends expertise and listening skills through both practical and theoretical methods related to “Design Thinking”. The aim is to train strategy and communication experts in identity-building and values related to brands in the food, wine and tourism industry. The Master will be held in Barcelona and Florence, two cities bound by a long-standing history of tourism, wine and restaurant industry. Firenze The Florence section of the Master Program in BRAND DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT: Food Wine and Tourism aims at the creation of a professional figure that is specialized in Brand Design Management in the Food, Beverage and Tourism fields. The courses focus on the specific abilities of managing the different steps of creating a Brand from the analysis of contents. The participants gain expertise in the fields of Brand and management for a wide range of different contests. The Tourism industry is based upon a relation between Brand, hosts and guests which involves numerous variables. It is perhaps the fastest growing industry internationally and it plays an important role in local, regional and global economies. THIS PROGRAM IS TAUGHT IN ENGLISH Entry requirements: The Master in Fashion Business welcome graduates, those who have obtained a diploma in private schools at academic level in the fields of Fashion, Communication and Marketing, and young professionals with experience in the field. Methodology and structure: The Master in Fashion Business has as its primary objective the development of skills and occupational skills (creative and communicative) of the participants through a critical, analytical and indirect approach to the fashion system and an experimental teaching method that combines theory and practice. The course includes the study and analysis of cultural, historical and socio-economic elements that define the world of contemporary fashion. The programme is structured to provide opportunities for students to work with Italian fashion brand on real cases, and to investigate, along with designers and professionals in the contemporary fashion system, the knowledge of the entire process of communication industry. Particular attention is given to integrated strategies that increasingly involve the use of new media and social media. The course focuses on the use of digital media and viral communication techniques. Students examine critically the topics of design and management, and how to work in team. The theme of fashion is examined in all its forms: history, communication, marketing, semiotics, visual communication. Particular attention is given to fashion events (exhibitions, fashion shows, events in the showrooms..) and their communication through press office, focusing on the roles of all the professionals involved (PR, stylists and photographers) and their interactions . The concepts are examined and put into practice through classes based on concrete projects and collaborations with companies. The skills acquired by the participants include the organization of events and their effective communication through a strategic approach and detailed critical analysis that can be applied to any project. The Italian system of design is analysed from different points of view: from the visual merchandising, production processes, from business plan to the professional presentation of the product or event to the customer. The programme of visits to major local companies and meetings with managers of the fashion industry, together with the expected theoretical and practical classes, help to get in contact with the real market. The final Project offers the opportunity to develop, with the support of tutors and teachers, students’ project idea. Based on personal interests and aspirations, the students make a project, to be presented at the international exhibition Pitti in Florence. Master in Graphic Design

The master in Graphic Design offers a path that is developed in a continuous relation between different fields, integrating the knowledge of the tools and technologies, the project culture and methodology with a sensibility towards Visual Communication and its representations. Particular attention will be given to the New Media aspects and to the new frontiers of web communication, in order to create professional figures capable of acting within an evolving scenario. The Graphic Designer figure, today, is particularly dynamic; being not only an expert in Visual Languages, but also a director of Communication Strategies based on the sign that is expressed on physical support in both real locations and virtual environments. THIS PROGRAM IS TAUGHT IN ENGLISH The Master in Graphic Design aims to fill the gap that is often created between available study paths and the ever-more demanding professional world, particularly in terms of acquired experiences and skills. Target The master is tailored for graduates or professionals in the areas of Graphics, Architecture, Design, Fine Arts and Advertising. Participants with an adequate (two years) experience in the fields of management, communication, marketing, public relations or visual communications (graphic, product, interior, advertising, photography, web or social) are also welcome. Method and Structure The Master has a complete and articulate program thanks to a balanced didactic structure, organized in three main areas: Cultural, Tools and Techniques and Project. The Cultural area's main objectives include the acquisition of notions and an effective method of communication of several types of projects. This area includes lectures, classes, workshops and individual studies. The second area of Tools and Techniques aims at the application of graphic design in diverse contexts with particular attention to developing areas (video, social communication, mobile UI/UX, interface design and digital publishing). The Project area is mainly practical and strategic and aims at the complete management of a communication project in all of its phases in collaboration with companies or other external partners. Lessons and classes are all structured as working briefs and workshops. Participants will work on the basis of real briefs which are inserted from the start in a context that reconstructs the dynamics of working companies and studio in multiple contexts such as communication studios, companies or visual departments within institutions. Masters In Design - Innovation And Product For Superior Craftsmanship

The Master in Design - Innovation and Product for the High Arts aims to develop in future Designer understanding of the craft product as a fusion of experiences coming from the tradition (skills) and innovation processes for excellence "designed and built in Italy". It focuses on knowledge and comprehension skills (knowledge and understanding) of the product, its tangible and intangible values ​​and the applied production value of excellence (applying knowledge and understanding). The background knowledge serves as indispensable platform for developing Designer specializing in High Craft skills related to strategic design, to re-design or de novo design of products that express new creative energies within the manufacturing districts of excellence. THIS PROGRAM 'TAUGHT IN ITALIAN Who should attend: The Master in Design - Innovation and Product for the High Crafts It is open to candidates who have a title of The Level, lasting three years, in the fields of Architecture, Engineering, Fashion and Design. At admission are valued in particular the attitude to laboratory design, knowledge / curiosity than materials and raw materials. It requires knowledge of the delivery of the course language equivalent to Level B2 (CEFR). The Master in Design - Innovation and Product for the High Crafts offers a training course in the classroom in which they develop frontal lectures and project activities, followed and supported by teachers. Within courses they are hosted actors of high-end manufacturing to provide an immersive reading of the production processes of contemporary design product, then connected with the trends of communication and international market. The research and design in the classroom are developed on external client briefs. In the development of the project activities is offered students the opportunity to interact directly with partner companies, business or directly visiting showrooms companies in the production chain but also museums and historic workshops. The teaching is organized in quarters dedicated to specific topic areas of the craft sector, through in-depth critical study of the system (History and Culture area), knowledge of processes and design methods (Design Methods) and knowledge of the product and communication processes the chain (Communication Labs). The Master in Design - Innovation and Product for the High Crafts students develop independent judgment in the selection and definition of the key contents of the value of products, communication skills, ability to develop the content of their own design strategy. Students learn to develop strategies to re-design the product, aimed at re-positioning and promotion of the artifact of craftsmanship on the contemporary market, and technological innovations in manufacturing processes through advanced manufacturing processes (eg. rapid prototyping or interaction technologies). The last part of the training course is dedicated to the development of the final project or thesis project, in collaboration with sector companies, during which each student develops a characteristic of the three themes addressed in previous quarters.
