The Department of Computing Science at the University of Oldenburg meanwhile looks back on more than 35 years of education in all areas of computer and computing science. Oldenburg's internationally renowned energy research - not only in the field of energy informatics - has a history of more than 30 years, which is characterized by an interdisciplinary exchange with other university locations in Lower Saxony, Germany, and abroad and various scientific centers. The work in the subject area of "Intelligent Energy Systems" at the University of Oldenburg is among the top group.

The European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations (EMMIR) is the first African-European-Asian Erasmus Mundus Master Course in migration studies and is jointly run by three African, four European, and two Asian partners, facilitated by a wider network of associate partners. EMMIR is a unique study programme focusing on migration through an intercultural approach, equipping students with profound theoretical and methodological skills in migration studies and encouraging them to conduct fieldwork primarily in African, Asian and European contexts. It is designed as a multidisciplinary two-year master’s programme (120 ECTS) that addresses important contemporary issues in a still emerging field of study.

The European University of Post-Industrial Cities (UNIC) was established in 2020 with the aim of offering an inclusive education for a new generation of students. An alliance of 10 European universities based in post-industrial cities and funded by the European Commission, work hand-in-hand with city institutions to ensure that urban issues feed into teaching and research in a manner that is accessible and inclusive for all learners.
