École des Mines d'Alès


Founded in 1843 in Ales, École des Mines d'Alès has developed and adapted to the evolution of industry and society. Founded to train cadres for the mining industry, it is now a big school of multidisciplinary engineers with international influence. The school is a member of the Institut Mines-Telecom, the Carnot M.I.N.E.S Institute, the Conference des Grandes Ecoles and associate member of the COMUE Languedoc-Roussillon.

Following the different opinions by SIC (commission as an engineer), the School of Mines of Ales is authorized to award an engineering degree (general) and also ongoing top up training, and to deliver three engineering degrees with the following specializations: computers and networks, design and construction management and mechatronics.

The school also offers two Specialized Masters "Industrial Safety and Environment" and "Operating Environment and Mining"; and three Masters: "Bioengineering in partnership with the University of Montpellier"; "Bioengineering in partnership with the University"; "Communication and digital technology jointly accredited with the Celsa" and diplomas through the VAE.

Mission of École des Mines d'Alès

Created in 1843 to support the needs of the mining industry, the Ecole des Mines d'Ales is now a Grande Ecole general engineers, with 203 diploma engineers in 2011.

With an innovative teaching method and a very strong scientific and technical training, the school focuses on entrepreneurial and management skills that help the students become "entrepreneurs-engineers." The school also provides specialized training in the areas of information and communication technologies and the environment; it has a total of 870 students.

In the three research centers, the 110 research-focused faculty conducts high scientific research projects, industrial contracts in the areas of public use and the environment of materials on its site of Ales, and management of complex systems on the Nîmes site.

Established under the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, the school aims to be a dynamic player in the economic development of its industry. Its technology business incubator is the first of France; it is an active partner within Technopolis Ales (Ales Myriapolis) and Nimes (NRCT).

The Master International DAMAGE rests on two pillars (humanitarian care and civil protection) and is defined at the interface of these two fields of application. The students will incorportate update competences and skills enabling to assess the on-site risks (risk analysis methods), to propose solutions for risk reduction and preparedness planning, and to evaluate the vulnerability. At the end of the cursus, students will be able to critically analyze the different types of risks and their potential consequences. the technical, human and organizational vulnerabilities that affect (eg individuals and companies ability to return to a normal situation) human perception that influences the risk assessment PROGRAM Over two academic years (three semesters), the master is 120 credits ECTS.
