Introduction

Welcome to Lessius, an internationally oriented university college in the heart of Europe.

We invite students, scholars and professionals from abroad to participate in our programmes and projects, and to contribute to the international character of Lessius.

We offer multiple degree and tailor-made programmes in the fields of Engineering, Business Studies, Languages and Journalism, Psychology, Technology, Speech Language Therapy and Audiology. We provide state-of-the-art facilities for both students and faculty staff.

We have a long-standing tradition of applied research in Translation and Interpreting, Entrepreneurship, Sustainable Engineering, the Development of Screening and Diagnostic Tests.

We are member of the K.U.Leuven Association, a framework of in-depth cooperation between the University of Leuven and 12 university colleges. The K.U.Leuven Association is the largest of the 5 Flemish university associations that were created by the Flemish Government to meet the challenges of the European Higher Education Area.

From the very beginning we have been actively participating in the European educational programmes through Erasmus and Tempus. We are currently expanding our activities beyond Europe and the field of education.

Location

We are located on four campuses in and around the city of Antwerp, Europe’s second largest port and the world centre of the diamond trade.

After Brussels, Antwerp is the second largest city in Belgium, and the largest city in Flanders. The city has about 470,000 inhabitants and is situated on the river Scheldt ( Schelde ), some 30 km from the Dutch border. This makes it easy to go to Amsterdam for the weekend (2 hours by train), but also Paris (less than 2 hours), Luxembourg (3 hours) and London (3 1/2 hours by train or 45 minutes by plane).

Antwerp is more than just a good base for visiting other major European cities. The city itself also has a lot to offer.
