With more than 24,000 students, WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is the largest economics and business university in the European Union. EQUIS accreditation as hallmark of highest educational quality

In February 2007, WU became the first Austrian university and one of only four universities in the German-speaking world to be granted EQUIS accreditation (European Quality Improvement System). This prestigious distinction has been awarded only to approximately a hundred of the world’s best universities. WU’s accreditation with the EQUIS quality assurance seal ensures international recognition for its innovative university management and high-quality teaching, and further enhances the appeal of degrees awarded by WU in the business and academic world.

Financial Times Ranking

WU’s degree program in International Business Administration came in at an excellent 22th place in the 2012 Masters in Management Ranking for Europe. This ranking puts WU in the same league as renowned schools. The Financial Times has also ranked the internationally-oriented Master in International Management/CEMS with its high degree of practical relevance at an excellent third place among Europe’s finest master programs.

International networks

WU’s network of over 216 partner universities is one of the largest such networks worldwide. As one of the leading business universities in the German-speaking world, WU is also a member of well-known and respected associations like CEMS (Global Alliance in Management Education) and PIM (Partnership in International Management).

New Campus

The new Campus WU opened in the winter semester 2013/14. With around 100,000 m2 of floor space, the project is one of the largest university building sites in the EU. There is room to communicate, discuss, exchange ideas, study, teach, research, discover, relax, and just let go.
The new site, located between the Messe Wien trade fair complex and the beautiful Prater Park is large enough to build a spacious campus with multiple building complexes. It is conveniently accessible with public transport and has direct access to the Prater Park. A number of outstanding, international architects are involved in planning and realizing the new WU campus.

The master’s program in Marketing provides our graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills to gain a thorough understanding of the challenges, customer-focused business and non-profit organizations are confronted with. Marketing traditionally helps these firms in creating value by identifying the needs of their customers and providing them with innovative products and services. But in a globalized world that is changing rapidly, there are several new developments which affect current and future marketing practices:

Effective marketing has to combine well-established planning and research techniques with a process of adaptive experimentation for more rapid learning and improving decision accuracy. Marketers encounter a growing availability and widespread use of databases derived from consumer surveys, scanner data, and interactive online media. In addition, search engines and social media have changed the way consumers obtain information, make decisions, and interact with each other and companies. This requires marketing professionals to possess advanced analytical and quantitative skills such as statistics, database marketing and market research, but also qualitative skills to better understand changing consumers' current and future purchase and consumption patterns. The Master in Supply Chain Management is unique both in Austria and beyond, because it offers not only a thorough education in relevant theories and state-of-the-art methods and techniques, but also aims to provide a transdisciplinary and integrated view for gaining a deeper understanding of supply chain related decision problems in a performance perspective. The Master of Science in Supply Chain Management focuses on the analysis, design, management and operation of supply chains in manufacturing and professional service industries. Using a broad definition of supply chain management (SCM), supply chain problems are being tackled in profit and non-profit environments. The former includes retailers, wholesalers, logistics service providers, manufacturers and suppliers, while the latter includes the public sector and non-governmental organizations, for example in disaster relief logistics.

Advanced information systems are an important enabler for state-of-the-art supply chain management. It will be looked at the suitability of supply chain information and planning systems such as production planning and control systems as well as warehouse, transportation management and advanced planning systems, but also at appropriate geographic information system tools for transport. Furthermore, models of supply chains will be analyzed and designed, and complex decision problems in SCM will be discussed by using appropriate methods and tools. It will be looked at supply chains from micro and meso perspectives (for example transport and logistics processes).... [-]
