The Master of Accountancy is designed for individuals who have already completed an undergraduate course of study in accounting and who need to complete graduate coursework to fulfill the AICPA 150 hour requirement for CPA certification. The program consists of 10 courses (30 graduate credits: 21 Accounting, 3 Finance, and 6 Business Electives credits). Course descriptions are in the graduate catalog. Review for the CPA examination is incorporated into the course of study. Classes meet once or twice a week for 15 weeks in spring and fall semesters. Summer session courses are on-line or hybrid for 6 or 12 week sessions. Class meetings are on the Bloomsburg campus. Students can choose to take courses on a full- or part-time basis. Full-time students may be able to finish the program in just one year; most part-time students finish within just three years. Course offerings are rotated between daytime and evenings to accommodate part-time students. Students must comply with Graduate School and the Master of Accountancy program policies and procedures, completing all graduation requirements with an average 3.00/4.00 G.P.A. within six years. COURSES The Master of Accountancy (MAcc) curriculum is designed to provide students with a program that satisfies the AICPA’s 150 credit hour education requirement while enhancing the skills and knowledge necessary for successful entry into the Public Accounting profession. In addition, Bloomsburg University’s MAcc will prepare students to pass the CPA Exam. Upon successful completion of the program, a student will be in the enviable position of having an earned Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s Degree, a minimum of 150 credit hours of education, and having completed the CPA examination. The MAcc is a one year program of study designed to enable a student to sit for the Financial Accounting & Reporting (FAR) and Auditing & Attestation (AUD) portions of the CPA exam upon completion of the Fall semester’s coursework and to sit for the Business Environment & Concepts (BEC) and Regulation (REG) portions of the CPA exam upon completion of the Spring semester. While most students will begin the MAcc during the Summer sessions following Spring graduation, the program is designed to allow students the flexibility to begin during any semester. Regardless of when students enter the program, they should be able to successfully complete all four parts of the CPA exam by the time they receive their Master’s degree. Bloomsburg's College of Business is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. All MAcc program courses are taught by distinguished faculty from throughout the College of Business, bringing you expertise in accounting, finance, business law, technology systems, management and marketing. Our graduate faculty are dedicated teachers with doctoral degrees who have demonstrated subject area expertise through extensive experience and/or scholarship. The MAcc faculty provide an active learning experience with a variety of teaching methods, such as, case studies, applied research, problem solving, and team projects. The Department of Accounting has had over a 90 percent job placement rate over the last 10 years. National, regional and local public accounting firms, government agencies, and private sector organizations recruit on campus each year. The Department of Accounting has 12 faculty members.
