THIS PROGRAM IS TAUGHT IN SPANISH The design and resolution of a stage space requires, as well as creative concepts and techniques, a range of multidisciplinary notions that help materialise the space. Stage design, along with lighting, wardrobe design, sound space, movement, etc., configures the visual and sensitive language proposed in a stage proposal, producing a consistent project that arouses the desired reaction in the audience. The Master of Scenography Design conveys to students the ability to visually and verbally structure a range of spaces, expanding the meaning of stage design, taking it to interior spaces, exhibition spaces, stands and temporary architecture, TV and, of course, live performances. The Master in Scenography Design is addressed to people who are interested in acquiring, completing or expanding the knowledge inherent in the world of stage design in theatre, TV, advertising and commercial and cultural exhibition spaces. Master in Sound and Music Computing Sound and music computing is an interdisciplinary field encompassing the entire sound communication process, from the creation and generation of sounds to their transmission and perception. Using a variety of scientific, technological and artistic methodologies and computational approaches, it examines how we understand, model and generate sound and music. It covers a wide range of basic academic subjects in fields such as music (composition, performance, musicology), physics (acoustics), engineering (signal processing, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, electronics) and psychology (psychoacoustics, experimental psychology, neuroscience). Current areas of application include musical instruments, music production, music information retrieval, digital music libraries, interactive multimedia systems, and auditory interfaces. The UPF's master's programme in Sound and Music Computing focuses on the more technological aspects of the field. Objectives This master's programme aims to train the researchers and professionals who shape sound and music computing in today's information society. Combining practice and theory in a variety of areas, such as computational models, audio engineering, perception, cognition and interactive systems, the programme offers the necessary scientific and technological background to pursue a successful career. More specifically, the programme gives students the skills they need in both the most advanced technologies for the analysis, synthesis, transformation and production of sound and music and the main technologies and processes that support sound and music creation. Who is it for? The master's programme in Sound and Music Computing is aimed at students with a technical background who have some knowledge of music and seek to hone their research skills in the field of sound and music computing. Although no specific bachelor's degree is required, candidates must demonstrate that they have training in an area related to computer science or telecommunications. Structure The programme is research-oriented and combines subjects covering both theory and practice. Students must complete 40 credits' worth of compulsory and optional subjects and a final research project worth 20 credits. The master's programme can be completed in one year, if taken full-time, or two, if taken part-time. Part-time students will also be able to take complementary subjects from undergraduate engineering programmes or additional subjects from the master's programme. The part-time option is recommended for students who do not have a four-year degree in computer science or electrical engineering or an equivalent background.
