One programme, two degrees The 90 ECTS study programme allows you to study at two consortium partner universities. Each of these will award you a master's degree. You will also receive a consortium certificate stating that you succesfully completed an international joint master's programme, developed with the support of the European Union. The new Intercultural Studies programme offers these skills. The programme prepares students to analyse various different contexts and engage in entrepreneurial activity using their foreign-language skills. M.Phil./P.Grad.Dip. in International Peace Studies International Peace Studies examines the sources of war and armed conflict and suggests methods of preventing and resolving them through processes of peacemaking and peacebuilding. The course combines perspectives from international relations, ethics and conflict resolution to reflect critically upon the wide range of social, political and economic issues associated with peace and political violence. A week-long Mediation Summer School provides an opportunity to develop practical skills in the area of conflict resolution and mediation. There is also the option to participate in various field trips in Ireland and abroad. Students are required to take the two core modules as well as four modules from the list of modules. A sufficient number of optional modules must be taken to fulfil credit requirements. NEXT EDITION: MARCH 2016 The Master in International Law is an international postgraduate Law degree for recent graduates in Law, lawyers who want to improve their law knowledge and practice in an increasing global economy scenario and other people interested in developing their career in the International Law framework. The applicants must be able to attend and dedicate one year to the programme as a full-time student. It is also mandatory for all the students to have an outstanding knowledge of the English language, as English is the official language of the programme and therefore all the lectures are given in English. Thinking globally is the aim of the Master in International Law: globalization and economic crisis is transforming the practice of law becoming more international. Nowadays, even family business are likely to face complex issues involving employment and immigration law, international trade issues and sophisticated tax and health law regulations. Thus, the programme is designed to appeal to both local and foreign students who wish to obtain a specialist qualification in International law, international relations and foreign trade. The knowledge of International law is important to graduates for different reasons: public international law has taken into account the effects of globalization and the necessity of protecting general and common international interests; it is also a reality the importance of the International Community, and in consequence of international relations and foreign trade. The Master in International Law wants to reflect this broader perspective. In order to practice law with enough guarantees, it is necessary for the lawyer to acquire practice knowledge and the correct application of it. With this simple but at the same time innovative principles, ISDE launches the Master in International Law (International relations and Foreign Trade). Structure The total duration of the programme exceeds 1200 hours. The programme is divided in two phases: The first phase begins in March and ends in June. It takes place at our academic headquarters. The method is based on a combination of study of cases and case study. The study of cases gives students a general approach to the different subjects of the program. At the same time this particular method develops students’ agility for legal reasoning. On the other hand, the case study consists in analyzing, deeply and precisely, those particular aspects which are especially relevant in international legal practice. This combined method aims at providing students with a work method which will allow them to face any kind of legal problem in future. This specific programme in International Law is completed by different common subjects that are essential for a lawyer and paying special attention to the International relations and Foreign Trade. The second phase begins in July and ends in November. Each student completes this phase at the premises of one of the collaborating entities of the Master, under the conditions and rules set by those entities. For this reason, the schedule for the Second Phase is subject to further modifications. Location and calendar The first phase of the Master in International Law Trade & International Relations. takes place in our Academic Headquarters in Barcelona. The students are obliged to attend lectures everyday plus the additional classes that can take place during also the mornings. The students shall take practical cases and exams related to the classes they have each week. Furthermore, the students could visit different departments of the top law firms in Spain and other institutions and companies. These legal offices and institutions are partners to ISDE. The second phase takes place in the law Firms, institutions or companies that have collaborated in teaching the program in the first phase.
